We got the J&J last Tuesday while we were in my hometown. The appointments were plentiful. Apparently, we heard lots of people were either driving or flying down from Chicago because news got out about the availability of the one shot vaccine there. It’s about 5 hours SW of Chicago.
My sister, the husband and I all had side effects starting about 7 hours after.
She had a pretty consistent headache for about 24 hours.
The husband had the chills and whole body shakes for about 24 hours and then a slight headache for another 8 or so.
I had the full gamut. Exhaustion the entire time. Chills/body shakes for a couple of hours. Headache. Consistent nausea. Mine was about 24 hours total.
None of us had a fever but felt hot for a lot of the time.
After reading a whole bunch of articles, the husband is convinced we had Covid earlier this year because we had such a strong reaction. I guess for the same reason people react stronger when they get the second shot. The body knows to fight it. We’ll never really know if we had it though.
So happy to be vaccinated and not have to fight the wait times here.
Thank you @kate. I’m thankful it was pretty swift, whereas all my other grandparents had long, drawn out deaths.
It’s been a rough week. My niece was having some problems too. She tried cutting herself last weekend and was admitted. They did let her out last night. Thank goodness. I was feeling numb and helpless all week from that.
It feels good to be with the family. I think we all need it.
I’m in my hometown in downstate IL. My grandma passed away last night, it was sudden. I needed to be here for my mom. They have a mass influx of the JJ vaccine here and a week full of available appointments. The husband and I are strongly considering lying and saying we were smokers (i hate lying). Although we might not even have to do that. My dad heard they’re opening up further here on Monday. I hope that’s the case.
We support college basketball. I grew up going to the local college games with my dad. The husband buys season tickets to his alma mater, despite historically only going to a couple of games a year. I always enjoy the tournament. The husband usually takes off work to watch. I can’t support this year though if that’s what they’re doing.
Oddly, both growing up and the family I married into, baseball and college basketball are the primary sports watched and games attended. The husband’s family is also into hockey.
