Looks like I’ll be protesting the NCAA tournament this year. They’re inviting fans to indoor stadiums in Indianapolis and San Antonio. Granted, it’s 25% capacity at each venue. Thousands of people gathering in one city to watch fucking college basketball makes me sick.
My sister, works at a healthcare clinic, got both of her shots. She had a big egg-like welt on her arm for a couple of weeks after her first. I think it’s happening most w/ moderna. The second, she was nauseous and said her skin hurt to the touch for about a day.
My girlfriend had a 104 degree temp and was sick for about 36 hours after her second, then felt fine. Her husband had no side effects. My dad didn’t either. They’ve both had the two shots.
The husband and I are in the same boat as Kate. With no underlying conditions and working for a consulting firm, we’re low on the vaccine totem pole.
It has been lifted. The husband found some first class seats going there non-stop using minimal points, leaving Sunday. Although if we went, we’d almost prefer a layover at LAX (the United Club is great and you can sit outdoors on a terrace) so we can get tested for Covid before entering Hawaii.
Anyway, a girl can dream.
I was an early adopter of skinny jeans. Prior, I had trouble finding any jean that fit right. Cheap, expensive, whatever. AG were about the best I could do and that was solely because of pocket placement and material. For most of my life, I’d consider my body shape to be a board. Yes. Board. Not just straight, board. I had a flat ass, small chest and very little waist. I could rock the hell out of shapeless dresses though. I still can. I’m finally a little curvier, mostly due to Pilates I think. And don’t even get me started on work pants/trousers. Those were even harder to find. I wore a lot of dresses and tights.
I’ve always had complicated feelings with pants and jeans.
Totally not about to change my entire wardrobe on what GenZ thinks is cool. First, my hair won’t do a middle part without extensive blow drying and product. I let the part fall naturally. Also not sure how good a pixie would look with a middle part. Secondly, there are lots of trends that look ridiculous on me. I’m a much bigger fan of dressing for your body type. And the older I get, the more streamlined I prefer to be. Hence lots of black and grays and I’ve been mentioning, and cream plus my leopard print flats. It makes packing for travel so much easier. I don’t like checking luggage so the less shoes I need, the better. Well, when I get to travel again. Some day. I’m hoping for maybe October.
I hate low rise jeans. I also don’t like boot cut/flare. Those really only look good with heels and if you do where them with flats or tennis shoes, they drag on the ground and get gross. Not cool for a walking city like Chicago. I suppose there are some looser straight leg jeans that look good, but I think you’d have to really search to find a pair that looks great.
@copa, I’ll ask the Pilates instructor about sizing Tuesday for the joggers. I got the leggings. I did order a small instead of my usual x-small. Glad I did! My jeans still fit, so it’s not a covid weight gain thing.
I was boring and bought black. I know, lame. It matches the boots though.
So I bought these:

This year, the husband is making beef burgundy. I’ll make a salad. We’ll have some chocolate cookies from the bakery across the street.
Prior years, he’d grill a steak and two lobster tails. The 5 degree weather and snow is more prohibitive.
Speaking of, I ended up buying the Orolay coat Kate recommended. So between that, my new cozy core leggings from Old Navy and the Ugg boots, I was more than warm enough walking to and from the grocery store today. The hood on that coat does such a good job blocking wind. Loved it.
@MG, I’ll send you a note w/ her info.
I don’t know about the badge after vaccination. I do know that those who do a lot of traveling, especially out of Country, will likely need some kind of proof. Kind of like when I had to show proof of my yellow fever vaccination when I went to Tanzania. They also took my temp when entering the country.
My sis and I have had the same primary doctor since 2008. It’s really handy actually. Two years ago, they started heavily using my chart, so that’s the reason I was notified from there I guess. When I was in Africa last January, I had a reaction to a bug bite and I was communicating with her through my chart, the rare instance I had internet access. So handy! I also like it because when I’m legit sick, they get me in immediately and I don’t have to deal with urgent care. Love my primary care doctor and the practice! Let me know if you ever want the info @mg.
My sis and I also have the same OB.
