Oh… the first day moving into a new place!!! When we moved from our two apartments into our condo neither of us really ate much for breakfast or lunch so by, IDK, 4 we were SO HUNGRY. We went down the street to a lovely little bar. We were the only customers in at 4 in the afternoon. It was a Monday. We chatted up with the bartender and that’s been our neighborhood bar ever since.
They finally reopened from their pandemic closing. We were so worried they wouldn’t make it. The hold up was their lease was up… I guess they’re buying the property now. So happy they’re in it for the long haul!!! I wanted my first burger out (from March) to be there, and it was.
Glad it went well @Copa, minus the pizza snafu!
Agree with MissMJ about getting a feel for the place. That’s what the husband and I are doing. We do a little bit every few months so it doesn’t feel overwhelming and so we can afford nicer pieces that we love and will love for a while.
Like if I would have a bought a couch before we moved in, I probably would have picked a sectional. A sectional absolutely wouldn’t work.
My two girlfriends are I are spending a week at an Airbnb in MI at the end of the month. We’re celebrating all of our 40s plus my friend’s surprise wedding (she held it on her originally scheduled date in a neighbors back yard and parents, officiant and photographer were only in attendance – the pics are gorgeous). I also need a much needed break from work.
Anyway, while I’m gone, the husband is purging the condo and we’re getting it painted, finally, after three years! I can hang pics on the walls!! We also want to turn our basement storage unit into a work out room so we have somewhere to exercise this winter, hence the purging. I have so many books. And three bags of clothes. And shoes. And some combined cooking stuff that we ended up not putting in our kitchen when we moved here.
Lololol!
@MG, the mail at our condo is sooooooooo bad. I’ve also had to wait months for cards my family has sent. My nephew picked out the best ever Valentine’s Day card for me last February and I received in, IDK, May.
It has a picture of a gorilla and says “Hey Girl, Looking for a Prime-Mate? Ha!
He’s 4. He liked it because of the gorilla. It still makes me laugh.
I asked the husband if he wanted to shelter in place in Calistoga in February, it’s our favorite area in Napa (in fact, we just placed a large order from Tank), he laughed and said we’d be broke after. So, that’s a no 🙂
Like you, @Moneypenny, there is only a handful of places we’ve been since mid-March. My sister’s in the burbs (four times, she had a new baby), my in-laws in the burbs (once), my single friend’s house (twice), the grocery store and CVS (regularly) and the office (once). Oh and I’ve been to my hair stylist (twice). I can’t believe I can count where we’ve been indoors other than our own condo.
hfantods, I’m sorry your boyfriend is leaving for so long. That stinks. Especially now.
We’re doing the same @Rangerchic. I usually vote in person on election day, but his year, we signed up for mail in ballots and I’m going to drop them off at an official site immediately.
