I haven’t left the house today. We’re about a mile west from downtown, and since they closed off access to the loop, I didn’t feel safe leaving. Actually, we’re in the zone where they cut off all transit, so we’re stuck unless someone comes get us. The destruction is really bad. Two of our friends who do live in the heart of downtown got out yesterday. Another posted video of stores being looted outside of his condo.
They started shutting down suburbs now and alerts are going off telling people to stay home.
Yes, stay safe.
My hair in jr. high and high school looked like a triangle. In college, I finally had a stylist that layered it. Here, my first stylist had a vision for my hair, the pixie, and that was 10 years ago and I’m so thankful I trusted him.
I remember after he did it, several people told me that men wouldn’t want to date me with the short hair. Ha. Ok. If that was my ultimate goal? He has since moved and it took a little time to find a new stylist who could cut my hair well.
The one thing I miss, he’s occasionally give me a pompadour style after a cut and color. I haven’t asked the current stylist to do that.
@copa, that’s a great idea for your birthday. I told the husband I want to take a day off work, get outside if the city, hike and have a picnic. I think it might be less crowded during the week!
@kate, if I had longer hair, I’d definitely want a treatment like that. My apt is a single process and cut. I suppose if I wanted to grow it out, now would be the time. I like my pixie though.Yeah. My salon started calling to make appointments two weeks ago. They had anticipated opening the 2nd. I’m glad my work calendar was full on the 2nd so I scheduled the 3rd. I’m guessing they have to cancel the appointments made on the 2nd? I dunno with Lightfoot.
Did you see what she said to Trump?? It made my day. I love her. I know people are mad about the lakefront being closed, etc. I personally love her.
Also, even though restaurants can open the 3rd, the husband and I both agree we’re steering clear for a while. Not worth it. We’ll keep to carry out / large tips to support.
I go Wednesday. They open Tuesday. I’m my stylist’s first appointment that day. I’ll be there two hoursish. They specifically said no purses or bags. We have to call when we get there and they’ll let us in. They may take temperatures. Etc.
Yesterday I noticed hair starting to puff out and curl over my ear. I can’t wait for a cut and thinning.
In other news, my friend had her baby two days ago!! Two and a half weeks early but everyone is fine.
@kate, that’s the issue here with returning to work. Our Chicago office is going to be one of the first to open across the nation (Dallas, LA and Phoenix are also in the first phase). Our office is downtown and most commute via public transportation. Our informal poll showed about 20% wanting to come to the office. Most others site transit the major hurdle.
To note, nobody will be required to go into the office. I know the people who report to me will stay home.
I have a standing six-week cut and color appointment. Tonight would have been another one. The last was, well, six weeks ago. So, I’ve had two come and go since Covid.
I did get a note from my stylist a few weeks back that I’m on her priority list for re-open.
I received an e-mail today that they are going to contact people and start making appointments June 1 and they outlined the protocols. So, yay, I hope.
Funny you mention that about mint, Copa. That stuff is insane. We had an herb garden last year. The winter killed everything but our mint. We replanted it in its own pot because it tried to take over our entire big-box garden last summer. I had to keep pulling out new plants it was creating.
The herbs coming Saturday are basil, dill, parsley and oregano. I’d love to have thyme and sage too, but we’d need another large planter box.
I cook with a lot of fresh herbs when I have them.
