That’s why I said I’m not advocating for this LW to let her husband get a gun. I have a host of other feelings about needing a gun for protection and lots of people covered that.

Anyway, from my experience and my family’s experience, I don’t think it’s inherently wrong to own a gun and keep it at home if you have children. I understand others feel differently.

Miss MJ, I’m glad you brought up the point about respecting guns and knowing that its purpose is to kill. I think that’s missing from a lot of the gun debates we read on-line.

I grew up in a family of hunters. My dad. My grandpa. Uncles. Male cousins. It was/is their way of life. But at the same time, my dad was diligent about his shotguns and stressing to us kids how dangerous they were. He cleaned them in front of us, always kept them unloaded, taught us how to hold them, told us how dangerous they were, told us never to touch them unless he was present. And we never did. Fuck. I’m still scared of them and refuse to shoot one. Only one of my sisters hunted with my dad.

Anyway, I think there are ways to own guns with children in the house and gun education is a key ingredient. As well as the safety measures everyone else already covered.

Mind you, I’m not advocating this LW to let her husband own a gun. I guess I just wanted to share my story about responsible gun ownership.

FWIW, I’m all in for better gun control.

As an aside, my niece went deer hunting with her dad. We ate what she shot on her birthday. She was pretty proud of that, but also never wants to go hunting again or any time soon at the very least. She took gun safety courses and all that.

My fingers are crossed for you @kmtthat!

Oh, and that’s one of the sites being tossed around if the 2nd Amazon HQ comes here. I highly doubt our city “wins.” But that site is a high contender here for that.

Also, my cousin and her husband LOVE Mott Street. I have yet to go.

Great location and perfect timing! They City sold the land/2FM maintenance facility on the North Branch, east of the Highway. I’ve seen schematics of the redevelopment. My company is designing/constructing the new 2FM maintenance facility in a different location. Lots of cool things are happening on the river right now. We have the South Branch work too.

Edt: Sorry, I get excited about big development projects here since I help us position for it, instead of the tried and true traditional engineering work, like roads and water treatment plant work. And ever since we bought in what I hope is an emerging neighborhood (West Town), I get excited about real estate too.

Fun kmtthat! Good luck! Can I ask what neighborhood?

Seeing a therapist was one of the best things I ever did for myself. It truly was.

Lol Lianne, I should clarify… if I were to go out on either a Wed or Thurs, it would have to be a happy hour/dinner situation. Not a party situation. IDK why I’d prefer one of those nights over a Friday, but I really like to go home and veg out on a Friday.

I’m usually fall asleep on the couch by 8:30 most friday’s… and the husband has to coax me to the bed. I’m lame.

Count me as one of those people who likes to chill on Friday’s! I can go out for HH, or dinner right after work… but I can’t go home, wait a couple hours, then go out. I’ll pass out.

Wed, Thur and Sat nights out are more my speed.

Anyway, Copa, I think that’s a good sign he asked about Friday. I doubt he said that hoping you’d forget.

@Copa, if you’re ever bored, I think this would be a pretty entertaining read from the start.

@Lianne, right? I think I remember most of what I wrote, but I bet I don’t. This thread started a few weeks before our first official date. You all saw me through! Even a couple freak outs 🙂
