Oh, I totally understand the extra vacation and why you’re upset. What I’m suggesting is cancel the later vacation days since they’re being weird about it. You were being honest. They are not. So now game the system. I personally would do that by saying you’re canceling the other, shorter trips and use the time for the longer trip. Use sick time for the shorter trips, not the long one.
Now I’m confused but it may be the wine from lunch. So, this year, you’ve only asked for a total of 8 days off and you’re owed 10 vacation days?
When is the other vacation time you have planned? If they’re being weird about your May vacation, I think I’d consider taking your later vacation days off the books and using that time in May. Deal with the later vacations day later, or don’t mention them again and use your sick time, or something.

Can I just say that some people who read and comment on this site have, in fact, met Wendy. She’s not a stranger. Also, I reread the column you’re referencing and I don’t see any harm that she could have inflicted on this guy. I really, really don’t know what your problem is.
Finally, at one point you mocked Wendy’s grammar. If you’re going to mock someone’s grammar, you better make damn sure that yours is impeccable. Which it wasn’t. If you need me to find the exact instances, I will. I don’t feel up to it at the moment.

That sucks. I think you should ask for a documented PTO policy, or whatever your company calls time off. It likely won’t help you on this trip, but it’d be good for future trips.
