I hope so too, Wendy! I need to find the source on this, but the other incidences of group gatherings (I think we’re still waiting to hear back from the Ozarks pool party which had one confirmed case) didn’t lead to an increase. Maybe because of the precautions that people are taking in general? who knows, but I’m certainly looking forward to good news
June 5, 2020 at 9:49 am #887867and testing has expanded to all at 11 sites here. I also found a blood antibody place around the corner that’s doing them for free. We’re most likely going to get both tests as a precaution before the end of June trip to see my inlaws. (do the antibody first, and if no evidence of having had it, then we’ll see about getting tested to make sure not asymptomatic).
June 5, 2020 at 9:17 am #887862We ordered take out last night. While we waited, we went down to a local waterhole that had set up a streetside bar with roped off areas for drinking. Decent amount of people spread out, having beers and cocktails in plastic cups. It was nice to enjoy the weather, support a local business and see the neighborhood come together (well, while 6 feet plus apart). Watched several groups painting the boarded up businesses.
June 1, 2020 at 10:30 am #887336@ Fyodor, yes that seems to be the consensus among most people.
Had to meet my babysitter in her Lyft at the CBD border in order to get her in this morning. Guess this is the new normal for awhile
May 31, 2020 at 6:40 pm #887277My neighborhood was hit last night at 10 pm. From our balcony, we watched people drive in and start smashing a looting. Trader Joe’s was decimated. While south loop was bad, downtown and river north was worse. The CbD has been locked down all day so things have been relatively calm, but it’s moving elsewhere now. Peaceful protest this evening was flanked by squad cars , I think there was another in Hyde Park as well.
May 30, 2020 at 1:46 pm #887185@copa, starved rock is fun, but I actually recommend Matthiessen which is just around the corner. It’s less crowded too.
May 29, 2020 at 5:09 am #887045I’m from SW MPLS originally (the rioting is going on in South)..my brother is a deputy over in the next county and is getting called in on Sunday to head into Minneapolis. I don’t know what to say. I hope this doesn’t end in further lives lost. One was too much already.

May 22, 2020 at 9:01 am #886397It’s different for everyone when assessing risk. I’m not as worried about children and those of us that are younger with no underlying conditions, but seeing my grandmother is a hard no at this time. Even though she’s 90 years old and seeing people (but again.. that’s her choice, she lives alone and is fully able to make her own decisions. i know she’s limiting her interactions but it’s not ‘no’ interactions). However, I certainly don’t want to be the one responsible for potentially infecting her. Talking to her over the phone, waving at her from her balcony… sure. no problem. But for me, its prudent to wait until later in the summer to visit visit.
May 21, 2020 at 3:56 pm #886366I just got the text from my stylist with the new protocols. will be happy to get the haircut but also crying inside that the utter joy and pleasure of getting ones hair done is gone. 🙁
