@veritek, I hope you are able to get more. Part of the reason is if you are breastfeeding so you’re out of some cluster-feed windows and also by 3 months (ish), babies TYPICALLY tend to start going for longer stretches of sleep… with the 4-5 month mark even better. This is key to functioning.

Also, not sure if anyone told you, but 4 hours of sleep in a row is like a magic number in the beginning (for parents). That is your goal.. it makes you feel human

My arm was just sore for about 3 days ( i received the Moderna shot).

Back at work.. it’s fine. Kinda like riding a bike. Whats harder (but again, it’s all about prep work) is getting two kids and myself out the door every morning.

@veritek: I would recommend 3 months. More time is better. you are not ready at 8 weeks. I did about 60 hours of WFH crap scattered throughout that 3 months in order to have SOME sort of money coming in, and had saved vacation/sick time as well. Through short term disability, i was paid at 70% for 6 weeks (WAY BETTER THAN MY FIRST LEAVE, i was paid 30%?), I had one week sick, two weeks vacation, then 3 weeks part time to round out the 12 weeks.
Also, someone told me to do this and I highly recommend it: don’t start back to work on a monday. Start on a wednesday or something so you’re not going into a full week of crap right away.

I lucked out and got my vaccine from a Jewel in Hyde Park on Monday night. Then I snagged a shot slot for my brother and my husband (we are all 1b due to our workplace). Seems to be luck of the draw as cancellations and additional doses are released. Wasn’t going to ‘push’ for it since I’m overall healthy, but the opportunity presented itself so i took it.

Back to work today.. maternity leave is officially over 🙁

@ktfran, yes send her info along! I have the same OB group as a bunch of my friends, it’s super helpful. I’m at the northwestern group with Starr, Foley, McNair etc

@ktfran, crap, I never set up a primary care doctor.. only OB and derm. I’m 1b, but I checked the site and there’s not much other than “wait and see” since I don’t have a primary.

@ktfran, would these still have appointment only? I think that was the city’s method against the “most determined” getting vaccinated first and not the most needed.

Hope your firm gets it! Would be great to have these designated sites

@Copa, I still don’t think anyone’s had luck getting my Gramma a vaccine (she’s in Kane County). I’m in the same tier as she is, but honestly, I’m not going out of my way to get it with all the madness, figure I’ll save it for the teachers for now.. maybe in a month things will be easier?
But I really really want my gramma vaccinated. Plus, Kane County isn’t vaccinated breastfeeding women? Wtf

Ugh, kate, I feel like people are barely keeping it together and this is just.. I really hope it can get taken care of swiftly and doesn’t send you over the edge (or at least for long)

yea chicago is a freaking sh*tshow. I guess work has been trying to set up/inquire as to a mass vaccination at our plant and the city cannot figure it out. The hospitals all did just fine, but its really enlightening the complete mismanagement and lack of system for the city. Good lord theyre telling teachers to “be patient.” alright then.. wtf

Well, despite having the 1b letter for the shot, the Rollout here in Chicago is so slow that it may be months. I emailed a tip to the suburban newspaper to try to get a vaccine story for my 90 year old gramma.. something like multigenerational vaccine.. me, her, my aunt and my son via breast milk. We will see if that leads anywhere. (We are all eligible)

Also, just found another raised mole/spot on my shoulder. Thankfully my next derm appointment is within a month but I hate the waiting game of “is it or isn’t it.”

Maternity leave is almost over and then back to the rat race. I’m so so sad this time around.

Hmm. Maybe it’s different for different states, but while your insurance will cover your damages from the inside of the drywall into your unit, typically they will sue or bill back the at-fault insurance. There was a toilet that overflowed and hit all the 09 units in the apartment I lived in previously. They had a case number assigned that we had to give to insurance.
Anyway, this really really sucks, Kate. For all the reasons of annoyance, pandemic, absolute irresponsibility, etc. I hope the HOA fines her ass
