How awful! Those poor kids. They essentially don’t even have any parents anymore. I hope they have other family they can lean on when needed.

I recently got progressives too. Ugh. I don’t think my overall eyesight changed that much. But going from watching TV to reading I had to move my reading object (book, phone, etc) away from me or just adjust spacing every time. It was annoying! These new glasses help with that. Though I don’t need them to read so if I’m reading in bed I just take them off.

We are traveling to Hawaii in June and I was waiting to see the new rules for travel there (they were thinking of making 3 shots mandatory for visiting) but they didn’t change it. I was actually kind of disappointed about that. But at least people who visit there have to be vaccinated or tested frequently (and I think if not vaccinated a quarantine period). Though that is not a guarantee of safety from COVID, it does make me feel a bit better about visiting there. And I need a vacation!

@Copa – I’ve been using that lash serum for about the same amount of time. I’m doing well applying it nearly every night (I’ve missed some nights). Though just looking at my lashes I don’t see much difference but when I put on mascara I feel like they are thicker. So I’ll keep using it for now!

We aren’t valentine day people either though I loved the day when I was in elementary school. And I loved it when my girls were in elementary.

I’m making shrimp fajitas for dinner tonight since that is one of the dinners in my HelloFresh orders and I don’t want my shrimp to go bad. I’m still really enjoying HF. It’s nice to just throw the three meals in the fridge and then bam…I don’t have to think much about it. It’s really been helping my stress levels in terms of grocery/food/ planning and buying!

Thanks for the recs on the retinols. I just added a new serum to my routine so I’m going to wait about 2-3 weeks before adding yet one more thing. I’m trying to be better about washing my face every night…and I am better but I still miss some nights.

Y’all I don’t even remember if my mom wore makeup to work. I know she doesn’t now. I’m not sure she did then, or maybe very little of it. There are four of us kids and there was always so much to do that I don’t think she took the time to do that.

@Copa – when i was in junior high I do remember wearing brightly colored eye shadows, liners and such with the huge bangs that took a can of hair spray to hold. This would have been the late 80’s. Looking back, it was aghast. But we didn’t know that then and we all had a good time with it 🙂

I agree @copa and @kate! It’s a lot for us women to navigate. Sometimes I’m in the I don’t care frame of mind (age gracefully, etc) then other times I’m in the I’ve got to do all I can to stay looking young. Mostly I stay in the I’d like to age gracefully – but I did like the article from @Materialsgirl about the eye thing. And I think I would try that!(there I go into the lets stay younger looking category 🙂

Retinol has been mentioned a lot. Does anyone have a good one they recommend? I do have sensitive skin so I worry about it being too harsh.

Good idea @Copa! I also watched some of her videos from a while back when you recommended them. I haven’t watched any videos recently, but I did like her no non-sense attitude towards skin care. And the way she would recommend several brands across pricing categories. Also recognizing that no matter how much you spend, the product just might not work for your skin.

So far, I’m liking the hydrating La Roche serum I just bought (I don’t recall the exact name at the moment). I think it is really helping my extra dry skin finally feel quenched. I hope it keeps working.

I didn’t realize all that about Courtney Cox. I was wondering why she looks so….different (to put it nicely). I don’t know that I’ll ever have plastic surgery. I think the only thing I’d like to have done are my eyes…the sagging eye lid and the underneath. I’m afraid of looking worse!

I too am interested in laser hair removal! Especially on my upper lip. I’ve always had hair there and used to get it waxed off. Then the hair on my upper right lip area started to get more coarse as I got older (and a few on my chin) Now they are whisker like and I hate it. I’m always plucking. Waxing it off hurts like hell now and even plucking them out hurts still, but if I do nothing I will look like a guy with a mini mustache!

Also, before vacation I’m thinking of having my underarms, lower legs, and bikini areas professionally waxed. But my skin is sensitive so I’m thinking of trying in March and if it works getting it again just before leaving. I’m nervous about that. I haven’t shaved those areas in months (don’t laugh! It’s winter and why take the time to shave). Anyone else have experience with waxing?

I also ordered the lash serum that @Kate recommended. It arrived yesterday and I used it last night. Can’t wait to see if it improves my lashes at least a little!

    @Ktfran
    – I use fitness blender at home workouts. It’s not really a class though. They are instructional videos. Not really a lot of pilates stuff but I enjoy the cardio/HIIT and strength workouts a lot. I recently joined their plus program (more video selection) and it used to just be a husband and wife team but they have been adding a lot of other new instructors. Some are doctors of PT and have some unique stretching videos. Lots of various types of workouts now!

thanks for posting that link @Copa and anonymousse! I’m looking for a good sunscreen and haven’t found one (for my body) though I do use the Supergoop and/or the one from Tula (don’t recall it’s name at the moment) for my my face – I like both of those. I especially need one at the elevation I live and for our upcoming vacation this summer to Hawaii. I’ve been trying to be more diligent about applying regularly.

Hope everyone feeling under the weather feels better soon!
I saw your story about your mom on Insta @DW and I hope she also recovers soon and is able to go home. My MIL is still in the hospital but finally getting some good help today. I think she will be ok and recover soon!

My husband didn’t feel well today and work told him to take a rapid test before coming in. He found some at WM and bought two boxes and it was over $50! We can afford that but not everyone can – I think that is stupidly expensive. His is neg so I think it’s a cold.

My oldest daughter took an at home test and it came back positive. She was also symptomatic. Then, 4 days later went to take a test at the drive-thru sight and it came back negative – while very symptomatic (running fever, headache, loss of smell/taste, sore throat). We know she has it so it was surprising that the better test came back negative. But she is finally feeling better though still pretty fatigued. My youngest is feeling almost back to 100 percent normal.

My MIL is in the ICU with heart complications. The hospital is short staffed. They kept putting off tests that she needs. It’s so frustrating. I just want to scream at all the “non-believers” and people who still think its NBD – I kind of hope they need an emergency service they can’t get because COVID is taking over the hospitals.

I’d like to do some purging…maybe this weekend if we don’t have to take a trip back home to see my MIL.
