So far so good. Friday will be 14 days and none of here in the house have any symptoms. Though I am feeling more….depressed? Melancholy? Something like that the last few weeks. Usually I bounce out of it in a day or two but this time not so much.

I invited my dad and his wife for Thanksgiving. I feel it’s fairly safe as they live out in the middle of nowhere working on their house mostly just getting stuff for their house and groceries. And they are taking it seriously so I feel good about it and I am excited to see some other real live humans for THanksgiving!

I do worry about my mom and grandmother – they live together. They are both smokers (lifelong) and my grandmother has COPD (we almost lost her last Xmas). And they let a family member visit them regularly who works at a casino! And my MIL and BIL are both flying to Vegas to go to casinos. I know people are taking their own calculated risks…but casinos – really?!?!

Wow, I have not heard that about the spreading of the virus. I feel like information on the virus is all over the place. I’m not sure I trust the CDC anymore (not that there isn’t some good information there).Numbers in our county are going up exponentially right now. Back to being even more of a hermit for the time being.

We just had a really close call with Covid. My husband eats lunch with the same 4-5 guys every day at varying fast food restaurants and one of them tested positive on Friday. My husband got tested also on Friday and his is negative. Barley dodged that bullet. And now that it has finally almost (though I don’t feel we are out of the woods for sure until the 14 days is up) hit home he has agreed to quit eating lunch with them. All the other guys also tested negative. IDK how only one is positive. Maybe he wasn’t contagious yet? But since I’m immunocompromised I’m hoping we are safe. (Neither one of us have any symptoms so crossing my fingers).

Thanks @Copa! I plan to make patty melts and tots and pick up a cake. Nothing fancy…I thought about getting some take-out but I really prefer my cooking to take-out most of the time LOL! Last year we were in Ireland…missing being able to travel. I hope you are enjoying your new place! How’s unpacking going?

@V – my best friends dad lives in Missouri (he’s in his 70’s). Him and his wife (who is early 60’s I think) attended her moms funeral and both came down with Covid. She ended up doing ok – my friends dad though – has been in the hospital for 6 weeks. He is still struggling to beat the pneumonia that Covid caused. He was recently moved from Covid ICU to regular ICU but still wearing a breathing machine gig. So it is still alive and kicking in Missouri! (Oh and congrats on the bun in your oven!)!!

My family is in Arkansas and I really, really, want to visit them for Christmas. But I just don’t think I can risk it. They have kids in school and my brother is a teacher. Sigh….I guess I’ll keep waiting.

In other news my anniversary (22 years!) is this Saturday so date night here at the house 🙂 I’m excited!

Oh and @LadyE, that sounds so scary! My husband’s coworker came down with a fever and went to the ER. Turns out it was an UTI, so thankful for that (not that he’s sick just that it wasn’t COVID).

I mailed my mom’s birthday card to her in April. Around 30 days later it was returned to me saying “undeliverable” as addressed. So I called my mom and verified all the information. It was correct. Because of COVID I waited until I felt more comfortable going to the post office so around the end of June I went to the post office and talked to the postal worker to look it over and re-stamped it. It got returned to me again! So right now I don’t trust the post office to get anything anywhere (at least not without paying for their “guarantee” delivery service).

I finally had to mail it to my sister, in a different envelope and then she mailed it to our mom. Sigh…

    Congrats @Ver! I’m so excited for y’all!!

I live in Colorado and would really like to get away to a cabin in a more remote part of the state (with a hot tub, on some land so more private) for a weekend or a bit longer. It doesn’t look like we will get to go home to visit extended family for either of the big holidays this year which we had contemplated.

And I would love a date night with my husband, one where it’s not at home. But that will have to wait until…….???

Here in Colorado we have mail in ballots but they also have drop-off locations so you don’t have to actually mail it. Which is what we plan to do. As soon as we get it – we are all sitting down and voting and then I’m dropping them off the next day. Crossing my fingers over here! (does that still work like it did in elementary 🙂 Kind of hope so!

It can take forever to get a refund. We were supposed to go to Cayman the first of June. I saw the writing on the wall the first of May that we were not going to get to go and requested a refund. I just kept getting generic emails. But then the islands actually closed to travelers (and our flight was with Cayman airlines) and we got a full refund. The refund didn’t come in though until right around the time we were supposed to leave. We were hoping to reschedule for next June but i’m not optimistic about it.

Our daughter was supposed to go to the Bahamas the end of July with a friend. But she cancelled it got a refund from the resort (she had purchased insurance initially when booking in January) but the airline just gave her a credit.

Well the college I work for has been bringing students back a little at a time and testing each and every one. Once arriving, students are supposed to get tested then quarantine until they have their results. Welp, guess what? Yeah a student came back with a positive test and they didn’t quarantine themselves so now an entire dorm is on quarantine because they have all been exposed. I’m not surprised but it still makes me angry. I am so thankful I’m still allowed to work from home.
