@cleopatra That porch swing is about 75% of the reason I bought the house! lol My favorite thing is to go out every evening and sit on the swing and maybe read a chapter of a book if It’s not too dark (and when it gets dark I installed solar twinkle lights so my front porch is pretty much my favorite place ever). My street is very quiet and all older houses and you can hear kids playing down the street. It’s like friggin Pleasantville in my neighborhood. It’s the cheapest therapy in the world.
@Kare – I’m so sorry to hear that about your brother. I’ll keep him in my thoughts and hope that he gets through this weekend okay. I know fireworks are hard for PTSD. Hugs to you.kareJune 30, 2016 at 1:51 pm #576110Thanks guys. I’m hoping he comes to his senses and gets help, but I’m trying to remind myself that he’s an adult. I can only do so much to help him when he doesn’t want to help himself.
@Veritek I am house hunting, and man it is rough. I am house envy right now. Sitting on a porch swing with some sweet tea would be heaven!
@kare I make no secret of the fact that I got INCREDIBLY lucky with my house purchase. It’s literally a quarter mile from my old house and I used to walk my dogs by it all the time and see that perfect porch and swing and say “if that house is ever up for sale, I should go look”. And then a for sale sign showed up in the yard. And I had no intention of house hunting or even selling, but I got a realtor and looked at it and loved it even harder. So then I thought “okay i’ll make an offer contingent upon selling my house”. Never thinking I’d sell my house in three days. TOTAL LUCK. (and I busted my ass to get my old house ready to put on the market in a single weekend lol).
However, I looked at more than 30 houses when I was house shopping in 2009 and I totally remember the frustration. I fell in love with too many houses that were just out of my budget range until I found the house I lived in for six years. Just be patient, keep socking away money and enjoy it. I love looking at houses and was a little sad that by impulse purchasing a house I only got to look at one!
If you’re ever in my neck of the woods, come on by and we’ll have tea on the porch.
kareJune 30, 2016 at 3:49 pm #576260The housing market is insane here. Anything I can afford doesn’t stay on the market for a week, unless it’s in a bad neighborhood. I’m just going to keep saving and keep renting my loft I suppose. It’s walking distance to work, so I’m not in a rush to move. I just want to build equity.
AleJuly 4, 2016 at 3:13 pm #582955I dont think it matters if it is ED or not, because he told him from the beginning that he didnt want a relationship, no matter the reason. I think the LW might think that, if it is ED, she could “help him” and live happily ever after, when, in reality, he just doesnt want to commit to her.
July 4, 2016 at 5:40 pm #583143@veritek Oh that sounds lovely! Back home my parents put up white lights along the fence line near our fire pit so it looks great when its all lit up 🙂
@MissDree Eeek! That is so great to hear! What has been going on lately that has gotten you so smitten?
My weekend camping was great, but now it seems I may have strep throat :S Woke up this morning with my whole body sore, fever and a swollen lymph node…and so I called it an early day at work and got some clarification from the doctor that it most likely is. I get the results in 2 days, until then I was told I can take penicillin anyways and some tylenol. Gah, so much for my week :S
I just hope I am better by the weekend as I have stampede tickets for Saturday!
MissDreJuly 4, 2016 at 6:49 pm #583254@Cleopatra_30 I just think he’s super sweet. I love it that he calls me every day. Or throughout the day if he’s unable to call he’ll just send me heart emojis so I know he’s thinking of me. And he’s just really affectionate, and he actually said thank you to me for driving to see him this weekend. Long distance SUCKS though.
MissDreJuly 5, 2016 at 9:04 am #584424@veritek it’s a 4 hour drive or a 1 hour flight between our cities. I think it’s not so much the distance that sucks, more the fact that his job has him all over the continent all the time and his schedule is all over the place (he doesn’t have a set day off). So, he’s basically calling me from airports everyday. That’s why I love it that he calls me once or twice a day and sends me cute texts so I know he’s thinking of me 🙂
But the time we do get to spend together is also awesome. You know that feeling where you have butterflies in your stomach? That’s how I feel when I know I’m going to see him.
I guess we’ll see how things go, time will tell if we can work out this distance thing or not. But so far, I like him a lot 🙂
