No second date. We exchanged some texts last week but it looks like my panic was for nothing. My best guess now is that neither of us were feeling it enough to warrant a second date, and that’s fine.
C.T. doesn’t follow me on Instagram (never even gave him my handle), but I noticed last night he watched my story. So, he sought it out. It made me a little sad that he was thinking of me. (I still think about him.) Dating before technology must’ve been so much easier, when you could pretend the guy who rejected you died. Therapy tonight, though — yay!
lucia_laNovember 6, 2017 at 1:46 pm #726187It’s Banjo and I’s one-year anniversary on Saturday! We got a groupon for a private couples spa package with hot tub, sauna, champagne, etc. so I’m pretty excited for that! Never done anything like that before. Now looking around for a new restaurant to try that’s romantic but not crazy pricey.
Wishing you all good luck in your dating adventures this week!
Happy anniversary, @lucia_la! Your celebratory date sounds like fun. Mind if I third wheel? 😛
@hfantods It’s just dumb. I don’t want to be reminded of his unnecessary existence. Haha. I could tell he found me on Instagram before we’d even met in person because he viewed my stories. I’d just gotten my dog around when we first met, so I was posting a lot of stories at the time. I stopped as the novelty of having a puppy wore off, and assumed he stopped looking at my page when he told me he wasn’t emotionally where he should be. Nope! He’s still around behind the scenes. Like, go be unemotional somewhere else, sir!TheLadyENovember 6, 2017 at 11:09 pm #726230No dates, but I did my 4th standup comedy open mic tonight! The girl who runs the all-female standup comedy show & I are becoming good friends and she is super encouraging. She says I am good enough to actually BE IN A SHOW in December. DECEMBER! In a REAL SHOW with my NAME ON THE BILLING! That’s CRAZY to me. But she says I write really well and I’m a natural. I am so excited.
Also, I am purposefully taking some time off from dating because I’m not over my ex but also because I’m committed to doing some intensive work with my therapist that I probably should’ve done years ago. I figure it may as well be now. I deleted all the apps I still had on my phone and I have zero active accounts (not that I was really looking at them anyway). It’s like detoxing, lol.
TheHizzyNovember 7, 2017 at 8:10 am #726249That’s awesome @THeLadeE
I felt silly celebrating a 1 year anniversary @lucia_la so I’m glad you are. I wished we had. We just happened to be with family when it happened. Makes me want to look into something similar for 1.5 that lands right around my birthday. 🙂
For those playing along at home – my back is fantastic. I am jealous this is how everyone else has lived their lives (pain free). I still am not allowed to do ANYTHING. As someone who’s a crosfitter (with a focus on oly lifting) it’s SO HARD. BUT! Healthy back is way more important.
Lucia- happy anniversary!
hizzy- I’m so glad you’re feeling better! As a fellow crossfitter that had to sit out due to shoulder issues for two months- I get it! Heal up first, the weights will be there when you get back.
I had my wine country date two weeks ago and he’s coming to see me again this weekend. His apartment is being sold so he’s moving back in with his parents while he looks for another place. So more dates in my town till then.
New job is good. Planning for a week in California in December and two weeks in January and February. Darn, I’ll miss midwestern winter 😉
TheHizzyNovember 7, 2017 at 10:00 am #726259I am 4 weeks out. I have been allowed to walk, bike, lateral step, hip drops, nothing over 10# and that’s about it. No bending, twisting, lifting just mostly rolling here and rolling there in bed. I was just allowed to raise my pelvis off the floor a couples inches last week for an exercise. EXCITING!
At my 6 week I’ll get cleared for more activities but not 100%. It’s about 3-4 months for a recovery for the disk. So I’m looking at a Christmas gift of “Hey go back and lift again!” or a birthday gift of “Hey go back and lift again!”
“Normal” people get the 6 week clear. Athletes get the 12-15 week clear. This whole thing is fucking with my mind and I’m having some really bad body image issues with myself. I’ve already been down for about 8 weeks total with injury pre-surgery.
TheHizzyNovember 7, 2017 at 10:02 am #726260Oh and @veritek33 I’ve been through similar. In 2015 I shattered my hand, was out for time there and then ended up with TWO surgies on that hand. out for 6-12 weeks but could squat. Then I went and broke my wrist RIGHT before the open in 2016. I still did a lot of it with on arm. I’m just back luck chuck.
I don’t know if we’ll keep hanging out as friends. I haven’t talked to him since after the date when he wished me good night. I think he realized, same as me, that we would be good on paper but not for real. I think I’m a catch, but when people see the little things they run. Men always seem reeeaaallly interested at first, like so eager, but then they get to know me a little deeper and they aren’t so eager anymore. I’m not saying it’s my fault, but it’s just that the little details don’t match.
For instance, my date on saturday told me he goes to the gym a couple times a week. He is skinny, doesn’t look too fit though (meaning muscles). Started complaining about people who take the gym too seriously and drink protein shakes. I told him I take the gym seriously. I go to the gym 5-6x a week. I meal prep and take care of 80% of my meals. I eat clean and really look after eveything I eat- Of course I can eat cake, cookies, ice cream, but most part of my time I am eating well. I see a nutritionist, I have a trainer. etc. He seemed like he couldn’t believe it! I could tell he was thinking he wouldn’t handle something like that! Lol, it was funny because I wasn’t even trying but if it had been a real first important date to me I would have been dissapointed because this guy would not be supportive of my lifestyle.
So, at the end it was a good thing to go out and see what’s out there. And made me realize that I don’t have to present myself as someone I’m not. I’m the way I am, I like to work out and eat well, and if someone doesn’t like that too bad. Now I am 32 and don’t have the need to impress anyone.
