Do you all watch Yes to the Dress? I adore that programme. But when or if it comes to that time I’m going go to local dept store or charity shop/internet and see what I can find for less then 500. But I do intend to go try on a few normal dresses, but just for fun. You wear it for less then 8 hours so for me, I wouldn’t want to spend thousands.
December 6, 2017 at 4:15 pm #728679Count me as someone who secretly wants to try on wedding dresses, just for the fun of it. I like Say Yes to the Dress too- I’m so fascinated by what people choose! And I like to think yay/nay on whether I’d wear something similar. The Kleinfeld episodes where the women have unlimited budgets and pick $25k dresses are NUTS!
December 6, 2017 at 4:19 pm #728681And also, my bf will watch Say Yes as well as most HGTV programs with me. We have some entertaining convos during those shows!
TheHizzyDecember 6, 2017 at 4:54 pm #728682When I was laid up for a month with my back I watched a lot of Say Yes To the Dress and imagined if I had that kind of money to spend I’d spend it on better things. I’m thinking of saying $1000 of less just to see what I get. And then possibly getting a version of whatever I find made somewhere cheaper or used online.
That’s so exciting Hizzy!!

@TheHizzy, mine was exactly $1,000. There’s a local shop here that makes dresses for you from scratch. They have a quite a few prototypes and then you build your preferences from there. I’d consider them vintage modern. It was so much fun to have a dress made specifically for me!
I love Say Yes to the Dress! Some of those brides are insane. I usually cry because I’m a softie.
For anyone interested in donating a loved or even buying a previously-loved dress, this non-profit in my college town is pretty cool: http://www.thebridesproject.org/ You don’t need to spend a ton of money to find a dress you love, that’s your style, and that looks great on you! 🙂
@hfantods Do you think you’re being ghosted?I used to watch Say Yes to the Dress. It’s fun but OMG those people spending tens of thousands on a dress are crazy.
Can I let you guys in on a little secret? (promise you won’t judge me!) I already bought a wedding dress lol. I got it last month… I saw it, fell in love with it, and it was only $60. Yes, 6-0. $60.
I was a little scared that I might be jinxing myself. But I figured hey, it’s a beautiful dress, I have way more expensive shit in my closet that I never wear, I’m not out much if it never gets used.
TheLadyEDecember 7, 2017 at 12:24 am #728708@MissDre No judgement from me! I know exactly what dress I will want to buy whenever the day is that an unwitting man puts the rose gold opal ring from Etsy I want on my finger and I’m single as the day is long. Lol.
You guys, I performed in my first ever comedy showcase tonight and it went AMAZINGLY WELL!!!! I am so happy and actually really proud of myself. Also, my best friend and several people from my company, including my FORMER CTO (what?!) came out to support me, which felt so great. I’m so hyped up I know I need to go to sleep for work tomorrow but I can’t. I’m so happy to have started doing this and I am really good at it! It’s making me super excited for the new year! 😀
I have a picture of me onstage but can’t figure out how to show you, as my Instagram is private. Argh.
