My cat is pretty indifferent to pretty much everyone, but I guess that is the definition of a cat. When I first started to date my boyfriend she would come to the door to greet him, let him pet her (she won’t let anyone pet her except me) and generally tolerated him in her space. We went through a bit of a rough patch in the late spring/early summer and she hissed at him a couple times, wouldn’t let him near her and showed her displeasure at having him in the house. We worked through it and she is great with him now. I told my best friend (who doesn’t have pets) that it is like the cat could sense that he wasn’t making me happy. My bff thought I was nuts, but I still say there is some truth to that.
January 2, 2018 at 9:04 pm #734829@TheHizzy, I am really loving this trend for lace wedding dresses <3 I think as long as you feel great in it, go for it!
My BF really wants a dog, he really likes Samoyeds. They are medium sized white fluffy dogs. I would prefer a cat, they are lower maintenance, but until my allergies go away a dog will be a fair alternative. Personally huskies and labs are my fav 😛
Hizzy – the dress looks fantastic. Congrats on finding it!
Cats are a great judge of character, I just don’t trust my dogs. They friggin love everyone so I can’t base anything on their judgment lol.
Also, the man and I went out for NYE and had so much fun. That night in bed he asked if it was okay to refer to me as his girlfriend. It was very sweet. So I guess I have a boy/manfriend now.
@veritek33 YAY! That’s a good update! I’m legit convinced I’m never going to have a boyfriend again and that it’s just gonna be few-months-and-out relationships until I die.
TheLadyEJanuary 4, 2018 at 5:56 pm #735003@veritek33 Congratulations! That’s awesome. Very happy for you!
@Copa SAME. A few months, once in awhile, along with a rotation of guy friends to hang out with regularly and a FWB who I get to see once or twice a year. Yup.
@veritek33 awwww, yay! I’m so happy for you 🙂
@Cleopatra_30 I think my friend (well, friend who is on social media) has that breed of dog. Oh my gosh, so FLUFFY.TheHizzyJanuary 5, 2018 at 9:34 am #735039@veritek33 woohoo! congrats! That’s exciting! Even more so when the guy initiates that conversation. Always makes them seem more committed/serious. FHM had to start those conversations with me. That’s always a good feeling in my opinion.
So at Christmas (when I found that dress) I showed it to my Grandma (who is 93) she said how she didn’t like it and that was kind of a blow. But, non stop thinking caused me to buy it. I sent it to a lady who’s going to be a bridesmaid once I ask her and she was hella excited. The excited I needed SOMEONE to be. Woohoo!
Oh, TheHizzy, I liked that dress too! I forgot to mention it.
Sometimes, it’s hard for people to see the more nontraditional dresses until you’re actually in it and they see you so happy! The first time I was engaged, we were going to get married on the beach so I was looking at more bridesmaid type dresses for my wedding gown, and when I mentioned this to people, they were aghast. Losers.
Oddly enough, I ended up with a similar gown for my Sept. wedding that I had wanted in 2007 for the wedding that didn’t happen. Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy was basically my inspiration and that always stuck.
Anyone remember my jerkface boss from my last job? He is in his late 40s, and got divorced from his second wife this past summer/fall after about six months of marriage. I found out he’s dating a 27-year-old and apparently bragging about it, and how young she is, up and down the office to anyone who will listen. I’m not surprised he’s dating someone so much his junior, but cannot fathom what anyone — particularly women close to my age — see in him as a romantic partner. I see a bully and a train wreck. I’ve been reading Lean In this past week, and I’ve actually been thinking of him/that job a lot as I read it.
TheHizzyJanuary 5, 2018 at 11:21 am #735046@ktfran we are getting married on the beach so it fits so much better than a full on gown!
@copa they might just be seeing the power or influence he has? Or the woman he is dating has some dad issues that she’s working out through him. It’s hard to imagine what people think when there’s a 20 year age game.
Hizzy, fun! So many people have ideas about how weddings “should be” that it’s hard for them to picture something different until they’re actually experiencing it. I bet that’s the case with your Grandma.
Also, it’s funny that I mentioned Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy. Shortly after I wrote that, I read that Meghan Markle liked her wedding gown too.
