@Copa that’s wonderful!! I’m liking these BG updates!

Man of Veritek has a job interview next week at my company!! (in a completely unrelated environment because no one needs to be around me 24/7) and another interview after that for a company in the town I live in. I think this move is actually happening if we can get him hired at one of those places!

Also, I’m hosting thanksgiving for both of our families this weekend. I met the parents long ago but this is the first time our families are meeting each other. And I’m sincerely hoping my father’s filter that comes and goes since his stroke, actually works this week. Mom has lectured him to be on his best behavior lol. Happy American thanksgiving everyone!

@veritek33 That’s super exciting! If he’s interviewing now and gets an offer, sounds like he could be moving as early as the next couple months! Wow!

I keep telling my therapist about how weird it is to date someone who doesn’t give me anxiety, and how this one just feels so different because he’s a genuinely good, nice guy who is consistent and reliable. And we’ve talked about how the brain can process anxiety as excitement, which can lead to people keep going back for relationships that aren’t good for them. I think even the last guy I dated seriously, which was a handful of years ago at this point, gave me a ton of anxiety. Because he was divorcing and I knew it was consuming his emotions moreso than our relationship, and even apart from that I think I always kinda knew we weren’t a great forever fit, but I blindly adored him anyway. My therapist let me borrow two books that she thinks I’ll find interesting and helpful. One is Attached, which is about how the attachment styles we develop as kids affect our relationships as adults, and I’m excited to read it.

@Veritek – how did the interview and thanksgiving go?

@copa – he sounds like a really nice man. I am so excited for you 🙂

In my world, its been more than 6 months since I started seeing the AG. He’s still awesome. We are in a good, relaxing place right now. He’s traveling and having reno work done on the house he recently bought. I currently have keys to his house, to help with the contractors coming and going, his car in my garage and…his guitar in my closet (he was worried it’d be damaged during reno). It’s a lot of trust, but to me the guitar means the most. I can see him playing when I look at it, and I know he loves that guitar.

I cant wait till he comes back home.

@copa it is so good to date someone who calms you. I didn’t realize truly how calm my husband made me until I sort of just “lightbulb” realized it one day. I was around my ex after some time of being with my husband and just thought no way I’d ever be with someone who didn’t keep me calm again. I am very happy for you that you feel relaxed and at ease around him.

Fun fact of the day, I pulled my back this morning BAD. I am walking like a hunch back but did get some meds from the Dr. but haven’t drugged up yet as it is going to knock me out. I have had back pain before but this is so far beyond anything I have ever experienced. Shoveling snow for two hours yesterday I am sure contributed.

    How did Thanksgiving go, @veritek?

    @JD
, How much snow did you get where you are? It wasn’t that bad in the city, IMO, just very very cold! I thought my commute yesterday would be terrible so I left early, but all was well. A couple of my coworkers slogged in pretty late, though, which is fine, but I was happily surprised that there weren’t any delays for me!

I’m meeting BG’s mom and stepdad tomorrow. The next couple weeks at work are kinda crazy leading up to a big conference we had so I’m working late tonight so I won’t be stressed when I bolt right at 5 tomorrow. I’m so nervous! As much as I don’t care what, say, my family thinks of the guy I’m dating, I really want his mom to like me.

I’m not sure what they said the total was but I had over a foot on my deck to shovel. It snowed for over 12 hours straight.

I hope that you don’t mind the unsolicited advice, but the exercise at about 3:20 in this video were really helpful to me when I’ve had issues. The wall sliding exercises at 6:30 are also helpful for preventing future injuries.

Ooh, thanks for posting! I have lower back issues. I’ve been doing Pilates to help. And I’ve seen a PT. But I’m always looking for at home exercises.

I also find that sleeping with a pillow between my legs helps. As does icing it. And finally, a muscle relaxer never hurts.

As someone who had a 12+ mm herniation and L5-S1 microdiscectomy surgery October of 2017 I can’t preach enough about core stability and exercise to maintain a healthy back. I do a combo of the video posted by @Fyodor along with planks (front leaning, each side), hip abduction exercises, single leg Russian dead lifts and banded hamstring stretches. Takes so much time, but I’ll give it if it means I can walk/sit/stand without pain!

Folks – keep that back healthy.

The pillow between the legs helps me as well. I also do yoga. I’ve had back pain before, I mean I broke my femur, but yesterday was a while other level.
