As long as we’re talking alternate birth control methods. I got the implant in the arm this year and really like it. Random spotting but no full on periods and i didn’t notice an adjustment period.

JD, you should do a yelp review. In the review further emphasize the suggestion that people who like it probably have poorly endowed partners.

hahaha I wish there was a Yelp for birth control. I do wonder if some guys just aren’t “reaching” it.

@CurlyQue do you see it in your arm at all? I was reading that it could get lost in people if it dislodged. But I mean, my IUD could rip through my walls too!

I use this as a resource to read about birth control.

@TheHizzy, i do not see it but i also have fleshy arms. Possibly if you had really toned arms and flexed you could see it. The doctor inserting it (beyond telling me how my time is running out to have kids @ 31 yrs old!) told me to check on it every once in a while and if i find it’s moved to come in so far i haven’t noticed anything.

@TheHizzy oh my gosh with the time is running out thing. I went to a new OB yesterday and the number of times she said “high risk” and “due to your age”. It was like being smacked every time. She was truly lovely and was not saying anything wrong but good lord woman I am 36 not 50, way to make me feel old and infertile.

They asked me today if I’m interested in having kids in the future. I’m 43 and there to get my pill prescription re-upped. “No, I am not.”

So… the week prior to Thanksgiving, I was out of town with some coworkers prepping for a huge presentation. As these things go, we ate dinner together as everyone was in from out of town. One evening, I sat across from two coworkers, both married (not to each other), who never wanted kids and due to failed birth control efforts, had them. YIKES! One woman had an IUD and now was twins. WTF! The other, I can’t totally remember his story.

I’m on an IUD and now the husband is getting a vasectomy immediately in the new year.

@ktfran Yes! Oh man! Luckily FMH had a vasectomy years before we met so I feel double protected. I know what I would do in the situation if I had birth control, he wasn’t snipped, and we found ourselves in your coworkers situation. You can’t pay me to be a parent. More power to those who are happily parents.

The woman who was on the iud was vocal about how much she didn’t want children and was miserable through her entire pregnancy. She’s ok now. But damn. Yikes!

I know what I would do too… I too want to be double protected so I never have to actually make the choice.

@ktfran Are either of these couples glad they had kids even though they didn’t want them? A former supervisor of mine was like that. Adamant about not wanting kids. He and his wife got married at about 40, and a couple years later had a surprised baby on the way. Turns out, he LOVES being a dad. They had another kid not longer after.

Same here! I have two girls and the youngest is 18. I recently had a tubal so I do not have to worry about any slip-ups anymore. I didn’t want to make the choice and now I feel comfortable I won’t have to. No way was I going to start over 18 years after my youngest!

When I was pregnant with my youngest, I was at the doctors office for a check-up. Another pregnant lady and I started chatting and I could tell she was a little on the older side. She mentions that this is her 3rd child – but her current youngest was 18! And after seeing my aunt get pregnant in her late 30’s 14 years after her only child….I knew I didn’t want to do that.
