The last time I went out for Valentines Day I got food poisoning from lunch earlier and projectile vomited all over the bathroom, barely even making it in there, so ya, no more of that. Pretty sure I severely traumatized the women all dressed up in the bathroom. My BF at the time got it too by the time we got home. The Uber driver thought I was drunk and threatened to not drive us, good times.
LucidityJanuary 25, 2019 at 9:04 am #821992I like to stay in for Valentine’s Day too. My husband gets me flowers, and I make him what I call the “man bouquet” – I get a bunch of sturdy wooden skewers, stick them in some Styrofoam packed into the bottom of a heavy vase, and tape things he likes to the skewers: his favourite beers, BBQ chips and other snacks, pre-workout and supplements, maybe a gift card. It’s fun to make and always well-received. I surprise him every year with a new set of matching lingerie.
We do go out for dinner, but usually on the weekend before or after the 14th. We’re frugal and we cook a lot, so dining out is our Thing for special occasions.
Oh the man bouquet is really clever.
I am so pent up with all this snow and not getting out. Thinking I am about to do some damage at Target to rebel. haha
Going to grab this mat for our mud room.

I am tired of my house having puddles everywhere. If someone could advise how to get a teenager to actually do what you ask (take shoes off in the mud room) I would love to hear it.
Also hoping I might find a good absorbent type of rug I can put in there too. I saw one somewhere not that long ago meant just for it but can’t for the life of me remember where, plus I am only going to Target since it is snowing again soon so I’ll just look there.
@ale Good riddance to that guy! I hope you’re not feeling bad about that. Sometimes things like that will make me wonder what *I* did to “deserve” it, even when I know it’s the other person and not me.
We were given the option of working remote today because of how cold it is. I was on the fence until I took my dog out this morning. The air stings any exposed skin, so if I have the option of not standing in the bitter cold waiting on public transit, I’ll take it.
Down another .8 lbs. Was a little disappointed because I want things the move faster, but I know after losing over 2 the week before, it was bound to slow a bit. I’m going to work on snacking less this week. I discovered dried mangos this week and it was a sugar lover’s no-sugar-added dream come true.
I’m so happy I’m in Napa today and not Chicago!!!!
This will be the first V-day I’m celebrating maybe ever. We have broadway in Chicago season tickets and our evening is the 2nd thurs after a show starts. Our Dear Evan Hansen tickets happen to fall on V-day. We could prob make a killing, but I really want to see that one.
@ktfran Will you be back by Wednesday? The high is supposed to be -13! It was “only” -5 or so when I was out this morning (I think pushing -30 real feel), but I truly cannot imagine what it’s going to feel like when the HIGH is -13. Add wind into that, and just nope. I feel a little guilty staying home, I know it’s a luxury a lot of people don’t have. On the bright side, usually when the temps get back up to, like, 18 after cold snaps, it feels downright balmy!
