It’s been chilly the last few days here. Luckily it warms up during the day. There’s no “Frost depth” here so we’re always at risk of our shit freezing.
I forgot to turn the heat on at my house the other night and woke up to 57 degrees inside. Kind of chilly. FMH’s kids make fun of me on how cold I keep the house. Our “winter temperature” is normally about 63-65.
We dont’ really have anything planned for Valentine’s other than couples massage that weekend and I’ll probably get him a rare beer he likes and he’ll get me something small. We’ll probably cook at home and open one of my Napa wine bottles and hibernate to stay warm.
Hizzy I’m sorry your week is craptastic. I hurt my back, again, for the second time this month so I’m hobbling along and the high for today is like 15 degrees.
The good news is we are going to see On The Basis of Sex tomorrow at a matinee. Oh and I got home and was able to have the house to myself for three hours last night so I cleaned and rearranged the non heavy furniture and hooked up my new wine fridge. So that was cool. I hope you all have a nice weekend.
January 25, 2019 at 3:33 pm #822014Weather has been up and down here. Tuesday I worked from home and schools were cancelled for blizzard like conditions. Today is sunny and warmer but not that warm and maybe more snow on Monday.
@Ver – your ring is gorgeous!
We don’t normally do anything for Valentines as most restaurants charge outrageous rates for dinners, plus I hate crowds. One year my husband brought home a ice cream cake for v day (which I loved). And last year (I think – might have been the year before) he took me out as a surprise thing but mostly do not like to celebrate V day.
We keep our house on 64 during the day when no one but the dogs are home and and then 67 when we are home (unless it’s blizzard like and so cold outside that even that is to cold we turn it up to 69).
@JD – we purchased a mat from a pet store that really helps when our dogs are tracking in from the snow or rain. Not sure if it would help where you want it but might look into those!January 25, 2019 at 5:56 pm #822019I found a link at amazon:
They come in different sizes too. I need a bigger one myself!
I really liked On the Basis of Sex! Hope you did, too, @veritek!
We got a bunch of snow here last night. It’s “warm” but it’s supposed to drop like 30 degrees overnight, and by Wednesday the high will be -13. So. Hopefully can work from home one or two days this week. I wish my company had a formal WFH policy so I wouldn’t feel guilty on the rare occasions I do it.
Had a fun weekend, including going indoor skydiving with BG. We had to kinda shuffle plans around this weekend cause he’s traveling this week for work (had him home all of January, and it was great!) and his travel plans were a bit altered due to the weather. I actually found myself wanting to say the L-word for the first time over the weekend. 😮 Haven’t said that to anyone in like five years, so making sure I know what I feel first.
I also signed up as a sitter for Rover and have my first boarder dog this week. So far so good, but he definitely hates the cold so I’m hoping we don’t have any potty issues when the temps drop even more.
So cold here too. I am glad school wasn’t cancelled at least. Son is semi year round so gets two weeks for spring break, when he goes to see him mom. They have already lost three days, which she got snippy with me about for telling her (since I knew son hadn’t told her even though we asked him to). Apparently I caused the lost days lol. Said she will call the school. Curious what she thinks that will accomplish (sure you can have an extra week) not to mention she isn’t even on the list to speak to the school regarding son. Face Palm! But for both of their sake do hope he doesn’t lose any more days with mom.
Luckily husband can work from home but he is generally limited to a day a week, due to how government works, but they have been pretty liberal, and went as far as requiring any who can to work from home one day last week, due to the awful weather.
I will say that I enjoy him being home but he sure messes up my routine just since I am used to being louder in cleaning and such since he isn’t home.
Trying to schedule surgery and you really think it would be easier to get someone to take 10k from us. Call this person, oh we don’t require advance payment but the dr says I must pay in advance. Finding it difficult to believe this is the first time someone has scheduled a surgery but sure feels like it. Hope that gets figured out today.
January 28, 2019 at 10:55 am #822202daycare is thinking about doing a datenight on the 16th so we went ahead and got $30 theater week tickets to the Lyric. That will be our valentines day. On actual Vday, i’m going to the dermatologist for my quarterly check up, so that’s love to myself right? The over under on getting something cut out is about 100% these days. Damn you melanoma.
The commute this morning was terrible. Red line delays cause of “unauthorized personnel” and the usual 95th bus ridiculousness. 1.5 hours.. at least daycare wasn’t cancelled. None of my employees are in. Guess this will be a good “get shit done” done.
ALE: yuk yuk yuk. yeah, that was more than a bit forward. Glad you deleted the message.
Rings: i wear the plain rose gold band everyday and the fancy one one special occasions too. Mostly because I don’t want to lose it or have it stolen. RadioStar has a palladium band because 1) he only wears it on occasion (manufacturing job) and 2) tungsten carbide freaks me out because of the difficulty to cut it off should something happen. The palladium is definitely scratched to shit, but eh. -
