A large chunk of my town is now underwater, a block of units around the corner from me has experienced a landslide and half the street has had to evacuate. Thank goodness I’m on the rocky side of the hill. My mum has lost power at her place, and they’re cut off from town. Being a retirement age area they’re all trundling towards town in search of booze in their dinghies. Australian disaster management is wild.
So dairy did not have any adverse affects on me (or I did not eat enough of it on Friday). I did indulge a little last night for Super Bowl Sunday, also ate some oatmeal this morning, and I can feel acid reflux coming on. I’m not sure if it’s the mac and cheese I ate last night (didn’t have a lot!) or the oatmeal. Damn. May need to do a re-do of the non-gluten grains category in a couple days.

@Copa-I don’t get acid reflux a lot so I don’t know much about it but could it be something you put in the oatmeal (unless you eat it plain)? I make mine with almond milk, some ghee, raisins and cinnamon. I still miss the brown sugar but not as much anymore!
Today is the start of week 3 for W30. I finally don’t feel so fatigued (which I was for most of the week last week). Don’t know if it was the diet or hormones or a combo. We did end up going to some friends house last night for the SB and I got to eat a burger (no bun) with mustard and pickles on it, that’s it (that’s all that was available). I did cheat and have 1 dorito chip. But I’m not starting over for one chip 🙂
February 4, 2019 at 11:40 am #829606I love chips too! But I’m not the biggest doritos fan. It did feel good to have just one after no processed foods for 2 weeks. I know that shit is bad for you but man, it tastes so good! Plus my daughter was with me and since she is doing W30 too, she glared at me…mean scary eyes LOL 🙂
The only way I have regular milk now (besides when I’m doing the W30) is in lattes. I’ve read that when milk is heated up enough it does something to it (don’t remember) so that it is easier on digestive track. However, don’t know if that’s true for someone who is truly lactose intolerant vs. sensitivity.
I ate oatmeal with banana, blueberries, and a little almond butter. Oatmeal is the only food in today’s breakfast that was off-limits on Whole 30. The mac and cheese is the more likely culprit, but I suppose it’s impossible to know — and also impossible to know if it’s the pasta or cheese. Dairy seemed fine on Friday, but admittedly I did not eat much since I was positive dairy was one of my trigger foods. So I’ll go back to Whole30 for a few days starting tomorrow, and try non-gluten grains again. Acid reflux and heartburn were two of my biggest issues that made me want to do an elimination diet, so I think it’s worth doing some experimentation to figure out if I can. I’d be surprised if it’s oatmeal.
I’m not a chips person. I never crave them, never buy them. Sugar? Yes, please, in any and all forms! I discovered no-sugar-added dried fruit a couple weeks ago and I think those need to become a banned food. They may be all natural but it’s still a lot of sugar and I definitely exceed the suggested serving size.
Update: Today has turned into a full-blown cheat. It’s taste test day at work, where a caterer vying for our business brings us food to taste. Sometimes the food is just meh or a very small quantity, but today they brought a full blown buffet and the food was realllly good. So I sampled away at a little bit of everything. Not even sorry. Took the last of my heartburn pills at work because I know something in there is bound to make me feel bad.
Teenagers are the weirdest. Seriously.
Yesterday be brought home 140 chicken nuggets. Seriously. Why? My fridge has about 10 boxes in it right now.
Today I had to go turn the light off in his room since he left it on and I realize that when he washed his sheets last weekend (so over a week ago) he just never put the sheets on his bed and hid them away to avoid putting them on. So I am guessing he just has been sleeping on top of his comforter with a blanket (in -45 with windchill weather, although of course the heat was on).
So weird. I was around for the teenager years of exes sister (he raised her long story) and this is so different. Baffles the brain.
Reminds me of the traumatizing college years when you’d go to a guys house and he’d have a mattress on the floor and a bathroom with layers of, well, everything, no soap and maybe a square of TP.
