Thanks again 🙂 I did manage to find a place, I am moving in Friday. I have the day off school, so will be able to do it while he is not around the apartment. I will be living with a couple and their dog in a townhouse nearby. So I do get to stay in the area, which is good as I came to enjoy the amenities and places there.
Things at the apartment currently have improved, we are talking more openly and being way more civil than it was the first few days. I finally got my first night of proper sleep last night which was so nice. His birthday is tomorrow, and I was anticipating making him a cake prior to the breakup, but we won’t be doing anything now. I will most likely make my self scarce that night to give him space.
Oh Cleo what an awkward few days it’s going to be but then it’ll be over and you’ll feel so much relief. It would probably be nice to bring him a cupcake or something on his birthday but i understand if that’s also too weird.
@Copa thank you for the advice. I know i can’t weed out all the bad dates, i just think i need to be better about asking more information giving questions before meeting.
My fella and I are driving down from Miami and spending a few days in Key West this weekend! His birthday is coming up and I wanted to do something special since it’s been a rough year. I’ve booked an awesome room at this B&B I stayed at last month for work (so I know how good it is) and a sunset cruise (complete with food and booze). Plus, it’s the first time we’re traveling with this little guy (sorry I’ll use any excuse to post a picture of him).
Oops. That didn’t work. Anyway, the attempted picture is of my kitten. If anyone is interested, you can see him here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/kSTBD6PCc1ap4ZWA9
September 25, 2019 at 5:57 pm #853137I did get him a tub of his favorite ice cream, and am sticking around campus for a bit longer to let him have some space without me. Texted him this morning wishing him HBD, but he hasn’t responded. So ya….
@allorne adorable!! I need some fur baby love, I am looking forward to living in a place with a dog to pet and interact with.
Thanks, Cleo. I’m so sorry for what you’re going through. You seem to be handling it as maturely as possible. A lot of people (myself included) probably wouldn’t be that strong. I do highly recommend getting a pet when you can. Our apartment doesn’t allow dogs, or we would have one of those too, but my little kitty has been helping me through some rough depression of late. Fur babies are the best.
Similar to copa, my boyfriend finishes up his 9-10 months long project tomorrow and he will be back to his local “regular job” next week. He was more or less away for two weeks (work) and then back for two weeks (off). It was harder than I expected. I missed him. In a way I think our relationship grew more because we made the most of his time here. I also liked having time to clean, do laundry and meal prep haha.
So now we have to find a new routine. I think before we saw each other once during the week and then spent most of the weekend together. I’m not sure if we will do weeknight overnights. But I’m glad he’s back!
That’s great, @hfantods! I’m curious what our new normal will look like, too. He finishes his current job tomorrow, then has a week off, which we’re calling The Week of BG. Haha. We were initially planning to celebrate his last day/new gig this weekend, but I just got back from vacation where I caught some kind of flu or stomach bug on the last day, so I think we’ll have to postpone.
Also, unrelated to his career transition, but I adore his family. My immediate family, everyone is very nice but we’re very fractured as a family unit, and my extended family is all far away. I spent most of my 20s learning how to operate as independently as possibly in every sense. I really love that his family has welcomed me so warmly and have enjoyed spending time with them. I’m still so in awe that families can hang out and enjoy one another’s company without awkward tension or fighting (I know this probably sounds odd to people, but that’s what I’m used to with my own!).
October 5, 2019 at 1:04 pm #853806@MaterialsGirl Thanks for asking 🙂 It went well enough, was emotional moving things out of the apartment. I treated myself to ramen and a movie after I got it all into the new place. Wouldn’t recommend Ad Astra to anyone fresh out of a break up though lol Was more depressing and dramatic than I thought it would be 😛
So far the place has been good, I am thinking of probably finding some better accommodations next summer. I am tied in for 6 months at least, then month to month. I need a space that doesn’t make me feel like I am a guest in the house, but due to timing and availability it was harder to find something like that.
KOctober 17, 2019 at 10:37 am #854802I’m married! Ahhh! Everything actually went smoothly and it was a great day. The lovely @TheRascal and her husband were in attendance. We were in Italy for 2 weeks for our honeymoon, which was great – beautiful scenery, great weather, and delicious food and wine. Now to settle back into normal life.
Congrats, @K! That was a short engagement, right? Tell us more about the wedding. What was your favorite part? 🙂 (I complain about weddings because the volume feels overwhelming, but happen to love them and hearing about them, haha. I cry at every single one.)
