I had my second dose Pfizer last Thursday. I was feeling ok when I went to bed and then I had intense arm pain, so much so I didn’t really sleep. Then Friday morning started the body aches, chills, shivering – kind of like a mild flu. I took some Tylenol which broke the fever but then I would just be super hot and sweat. Once it wore off back to the other symptoms. Oh, and a headache. Got a little more sleep Friday night and was pretty good except for lingering arm pain by mid-morning Saturday. My arm STILL hurts today though it is getting better. It was all worth it! 🙂

I think I’m totally back to normal now. All things considered, my reaction was pretty mild and the worst of it was what happened fairly immediately (racing heart and brain fog). I was lower energy yesterday, though not exhausted, and thrilled when it was finally time to log off work. Some very mild headaches came and went throughout the day. No fever, chills, or aches, though I did feel a bit stiff. Went to bed early and feel pretty good today!

@Copa – that’s good to hear. If you want, you can log an Adverse Event with your vaccination site. It helps them collect information so they can appropriately warn people of potential side effects.

Had my 2nd Pfizer shot last week. I think I had a newbie administering it cuz I definitely felt the needle this time lol. Arm soreness started pretty much immediately. Only side effect I had was insane fatigue, so the day after my shot I took a sick day and laid in bed with my dog and cat, which for them it was business as usual. ha! Was like 95% back to normal the day after that.

The other day I read that about half of all eligible Americans have had at least one vaccine dose. Hospitalizations among people age 60 and up have drastically reduced but are quickly increasing among younger people….consistent with the demographic of people who are vaccinated. Hopefully in the coming weeks/months the country can keep up with current vaccination rates to reverse this latest troubling trend.

My mild arm pain lingered for — maybe 5 days? And I had those first two days where I tired suddenly and intensely. But on day three, I ran my usual 4 miles and felt… fine. Though perhaps slightly more exhausted than usual. But otherwise my experience with Johnson & Johnson was pretty uneventful.

The hold put on it was a bit unsettling. BUT I am not a woman, so it was definitely less worrisome to me due to the fact that (so far) all the bad side effects only hit women. Still, not a great thing to hear 48 hours after your shot.

I really miss the desert. Being there for two nights is really such a tease! Hope to get back out there soon. I love it so. It’s spring and all the prickly pear cacti cuttings I planted last spring are growing like crazy. Which is really fun to see. Exciting too, as they were all pretty puny being freebie cuttings. Many are blooming, too.

LA is opening up but feels… strange.

Oh, and I returned home only to find my apartment had flooded. Oh joy. Yeah. It really flooded. (Plumbing issues in the building.) Wrecked my huge jute rug from Ikea. They brought in noisy drying machines… And I had to crash at Clem’s apartment. Not too tragic as Clem is my favorite cat. But yeah… annoying. Very. Especially as I had really cleaned and tidied up my place so I wouldn’t come home to a mess.

Booked my first shot for next week! I am so bloody pissed at how the Ontario government has handled the third wave. May should be a good month for us in terms of vaccines arriving.

Good to have you vaccine appointment booked, though! I was so excited for mine.

Out of curiosity, has anyone’s office announced a date to go back to the office? My sister lives/works in the same major U.S. city I’m in (the city want to fully reopen in July) and works for a global company (an architecture/engineering firm). They announced the reopening of their offices for a date in August and will be doing some kind of hybrid WFH/in-office model. My company hasn’t made any announcements yet, but we do have a town hall-style meeting next week and I wonder if a similar announcement for us is forthcoming. I know they’ve been working on some kind of WFH policy but don’t know the details yet. I do want to go back eventually and want to feel safe in doing so (the commute is, for me, the biggest unknown for safety since I take public transit), but also hope to have some flexibility when I do.

Ooh, @copa, where does she work?? I work for a global A/E firm, but no plans have been made to reopen.

Public transit is my biggest concern as well. That and I used to pack lunches every day and used the microwave. I’ll have to replan that… not comfortable using the kitchen again.

Not yet! They have just sort of alluded to what it will be like when they do.

It’s in downtown Boston, and they are hesitant to require people to be using public transportation, I think is one big issue. You *can* drive, but the parking costs would be astronomical. So right now it’s still only voluntary to be in thr office.

I think mentioned upstream that our US offices are open but for anyone going into the office you have to wear a mask and have a negative covid test within 7 days or something. The company will pay for the tests. So you can buy a PCR / rapid test at the Walgreens and they’ll pay for it. And you’d have to do it weekly if you need to come in weekly. The seven day rule is kind of stupid, since you could have a negative test on a Monday and be shedding by Thursday. But some clients (finance, DoD) really hate us working from home and it’s really hard to have the IT team fix your PC when they’re working from home.

She’s at HKS now. I had to Google it, haha. (Not to sound creepy, but she used to work for the company that I’m preetttty sure you work for, @ktfran, but in DC and NYC.)

I got a bike and a Divvy membership last year thinking that if we went back to the office when I still felt unsafe, I’d become a bike commuter. I’ve been on public transit a handful of times in the past year and it actually felt okay because it was always super empty when I used it. I have no idea what rush hour on the el looks like right now, though. I’m pretty sure I’ve said this before in this thread, but I have no real qualms being physically at work. I am in our regional office, so there are only, like, a dozen of us taking up an entire floor of a high rise and most of us have our own offices anyway. It’s just getting to/from work that has given me pause this entire time.

ETA: Not sure if this is true for everyone at my sister’s company, or if this is just part of a recent promotion she got, but they will cover some amount (maybe all?) of parking to make it easier on employees. Her office is about a block from mine so she’s already offering me rides when I go back. I have been to her office and it’s an open concept and everyone sits kinda close so… IDK how that’ll work. But the parking situation won’t be as bad as I assume it normally is downtown Chicago.
