@ListForLeslie Ivermectin has been given to hundreds of millions of people as an anti parasitic. If it were actually causing mass sterilization (a) we would know (and have better evidence than a ten year old study with a few hundred people) and (b) it would be a genuinely horrific turn of events because the many many people who rely on it for its legitimate (non covid) uses would be vulnerable.
LisforLeslieSeptember 9, 2021 at 6:50 am #1097395@Fyodor – if you read the article, which is still only a summary of the actual scientific paper, it notes that the results were taken after antiparasitic treatment.
Archives of Applied Science Research (2011): Effects of Ivermectin therapy on the sperm functions of Nigerian onchcerciasis† patients
We observed significant reduction in the sperm counts and sperm motility of the patients tested. On the morphology there was significant increase in the number of abnormal sperm cells. This took the forms of two heads, double tails, white (albino) sperms and extraordinarily large heads. It is suspected that the above alterations in the already determined parameters of the patients’ sperm cells could only have occurred as a result of their treatment with ivermectin.
In short, while everyone is wailing about the vaccine – “not enough information” “it’ll change my DNA” ” blah blah blah” – it’s not like they did any research into whether ivermectin has known side effects.
I went and looked at the Ivermectin Label with the FDA. The label calls out that it was not shown to reduce fertility – IN RATS. They haven’t done human studies as follow up and I highly doubt the FDA will ask for it. Ivermectin is not given to millions in the United States.
It also notes that animals tested at higher doses did have birth defects. There are probably pregnant women who are taking this right now. We’ll see how that plays out. Drug companies have pretty big budgets for litigation.
September 9, 2021 at 9:39 am #1097396I was at my pharmacy a few days ago and the woman in front of me was getting ivermectin, I suspect. She was not wearing a mask, I’m pretty sure most everyone else was. The pharmacist came out and asked her if she was taking it for Covid. She started immediately yelling about her hippa rights etc and he says, “I’m your pharmacist, and I don’t have to dispense this to you! I have a right to ask why you’ve been prescribed this medication! There is no evidence of this medication working for Covid.” Of course she started arguing back with him.
It was bonkers. By the time it was my turn I basically just whispered and thanked everyone wholeheartedly for filling it for me.
LisforLeslieSeptember 9, 2021 at 10:50 am #1097402This this this – the side effects from Ivermectin, per the very detailed label are pretty severe. Even for normal dosage, issues like hypertension, edema, issues with vision are common. You know who gets the money for ivermectin? BIG PHARMA. So for all of the people raging against big pharma, they’re all putting money into the pockets of big ol’ pharma.
And it would seem that there are some major donors down in Florida who have lined DeSantis’ pockets with big drug money – but on the treatment side, not the vaccine side.
If I were a doctor in Idaho, I’d be triaging based on vaccinated or not. You want to pretend you’re a second class citizen, I’m going to make that reality. This is one of the many reasons, I can not be a doctor.
FyodorSeptember 9, 2021 at 4:44 pm #1097410Merck (which makes Ivermectin) has put out press releases stating that Ivermectin doesn’t work for COVID, the studies show it doesn’t work, people are taking it at unsafe dosages, etc but people won’t listen.
The conspiracy is that Merck is lying because Ivermectin is cheap and off patent and Merck is discouraging it because they want to sell their much more expensive proprietary anti-viral which is in phase 3 trials (and may actually work).
LisforLeslieSeptember 10, 2021 at 6:47 am #1097428I wonder if any of these people have private or employer funded health insurance? And I wonder how health insurance companies are going to treat ivermectin ODs or COVID hospitalization? At some point, if you choose not to prevent getting COVID (leaving those who can not take the vaccine for medical reasons aside), then you really need to pay the financial cost. These people are getting airlifted and taking limited resources away from people.
Best possible outcome, it’ll spur the right to demand government funded healthcare and whooo the left better be on board with that.
Has anyone heard of any major religious group who has banned the vaccine? Aside from that group that eschews all medicine, I’ve not heard of any group who has said vaccines are a no go. I’m pretty sure even JWs are allowed vaccines.
