@skyblossom: I don’t have any interest in writing my own column. My interest here was to open everyone’s eyes on this situation. Because whether you like it or not, people in emotionally vulnerable situations are more likely to hurt themselves or others. And belittling their feelings isn’t exactly a healthy route to help them into recovery. If you want to offer advice openly to people, there is a certain amount of responsibility you have to take on, regardless of how entitled we feel about our freedom to speak online nowadays. Speaking is one thing, advising another person is something else.
@Lianne: How does being a longtime reader factor into this? Explain please.
I’ve shown you that clearly she isn’t ok with being disagreed with, maybe in a situation where she can outsmart the complainant, but that isn’t the case today. You have the opinion that my comment was asinine, and that’s fine with me. I can accept that. I can’t accept people giving out uneducated advice to vulnerable people though.
A Master’s degreee! Omg wow I’m blown away! I totally change my opinion after hearing that.
Yeah right. If 5 years of school at a community college impresses you, I don’t know what to say.
MikeFebruary 8, 2018 at 1:09 pm #738474Lol ok ok wow I can see this forum doesn’t give a shit about people in tough situations. Just a bunch of people wanting to suck Wendy’s cock to feel important.
She’s still going on about Aviary. Hasn’t addressed my actual point. Master’s degree my ass, just a glorified internet troll.
The point is, having been a long-time reader, I can personally vouch for the fact that Wendy’s advice is thoughtful, compassionate and usually on point. I am honestly sometimes astounded at the carefully thought out responses she provides. She’s even had guest contributors, like attorneys, weigh in when she feels slightly out of her depth.
