I really like Glo products and that’s the Vitamin C serum I got. I’m sure others have good recommendations, too.
March 8, 2022 at 3:58 pm #1103173Oh, I forgot about retinol. Shit, I’m already putting six or seven things on my face every morning!
March 8, 2022 at 12:20 pm #1103167Sorry, Helen! Hope you all recover quickly.
Am I remembering right that you had long covid the first time? It seems like so many of us who got sick in March 2020 had symptoms that lingered and lingered. I had a bunch, but most cleared up by June, 2021. The last of the symptoms – lungs burning when I run, chronic insomnia, and an electric shock/ zapping in my leg (multiple times a day, every day) only finally cleared up in the past few weeks. I’ve been reading about others who were sick in march/April 2020 and it’s been stunning how many had symptoms that lasted for months and months. A friend of mine has to have part of her lung removed this summer after struggling for two years to regain her full lung capacity.
Anyway, I’m glad you and the kids have very mild cases this time!!

March 8, 2022 at 12:10 pm #1103166I’ve started using a vitamin C serum and a the LaRouche Posay dark spot per your advice and I’m seeing a difference after about three weeks now. I was already using eye cream, a night oil, moisturizers, a toner, and SPF, but the addition of the C has taken things up a notch (I’m not noticing a change in the dark spots yet but Ill give it a bit more time). I also added the essy lash serum but don’t notice any change yet.
February 27, 2022 at 5:30 pm #1102947Frye has cute sneakers that I think would be appropriate in a less formal office.
February 27, 2022 at 4:56 pm #1102942I hope a balance can be found that works well for everyone. Working from home can be so good for quality of life. I think it would be incredibly jarring to work from home successfully for two year and then be told to switch back to full-time working from an office. It doesn’t sound like that’s what’s happening for most people though.
February 27, 2022 at 3:55 pm #1102934Just curious: how many of you all are returning to the office more formally/regularly either now, or soon?
February 6, 2022 at 9:29 am #1102432I wrote about Dazzle Dry in 2017 here:
https://dearwendy.com/wendys-picks-33/My friend is a private chef for a rich and very famous man and at the time, the wife had just discovered dazzle dry and all her society friends were raving about it, so I bought the polish and still use it (haven’t had a professional mani-pedi with it, but it works super well for DIY purposes).
January 22, 2022 at 11:56 am #1102056KT, definitely give Jen at Lustre a try. She sort of specializes in the kind of surgery-free skin care services that are targeted at reducing fine lines, sagging skin, discoloration, etc. I think you’d really like the experience and outcome.
January 21, 2022 at 7:13 am #1102001And for you gals in Chicago, my friend Jen is a talented esethician with a beautiful space I love to visit (although I think her 10yr lease is up this summer and she’ll likely move her studio). Her business is called Lustre and she has an array of services she offers.
January 21, 2022 at 7:11 am #1102000I am a fair-skinned redhead who has spent a lot of time in the sun (much of it without sunscreen or with minimal sunscreen as a child and then in my 20s), so sun damage and freckles are my big skin issue. Three years ago I splurged and bought a series of laser facials targeting discoloration caused by sun damage. It was pretty pricey and hurt like fuck, but it really worked!! The freckles on my face were noticeably much, much lighter (and some even disappeared) and the overall color of my complexion was a lot more even. I was really happy with the results.
I found another place in Brooklyn that does the same kind of laser facial for less than half the price (and had nothing but lots of 4 and 5 star reviews) that I want to try, but first I was waiting for my kids to be fully vaccinated before I risked bringing covid home from a facial, and by the time they were fully vaxxed, omicron took off here like five days later (literally – that was the window of time). So, now I’m waiting for cases to drop some more before I start with some self-care stuff I’ve avoided for two years. And going to the movies! Drew and I saw two movies in the theater after the kids’ first shots, when cases were still relatively low and it felt safe to see a movie in an empty theater in the middle of the day while the kids were at school and it was like being reunited with an old friend I’d forgotten how much I missed.
