How accessible are rapid tests? I’d say they aren’t as prevalent here at least in my bubble. They are $40 CAD.
That is so frustrating Wendy. It must be a control thing too.
I’m sorry lucidity. You are being reasonable! What province are you in? I can’t believe (well, I can) people are using fake passports. I was excited to go back to the gym. I wish they would mandate QR codes and help people without smart phones.
@cleo, how are you doing? I hope you are feeling better and also negative for COVID.
I’m sorry for your loss @BGM.
Health Canada has approved Pfizer for 5-11! Woohoo.
Sorry for generalizing, @lucie. You’re right. I was more referring to Germany right now. Spain’s vaccination rate is amazing.
How was/is Ireland, @ktfran??
Living together has gone pretty well, I think! We have had disagreements here and there but overall I’m really happy living together and with our place. We are starting to figure out our meal planning system. I feel pretty lucky because he’s still working from home so if I text him when I leave he’ll have dinner ready for when I get (from what we’ve planned).
His parents and sister visited over the weekend and it was very nice as we haven’t seen them much during the pandemic.
Looking forward to putting up Christmas decorations ?
That is a very heartening anecdote, @rangerchic. Glad you have been safe so far. Does your college require students to be vaccinated?
I feel discouraged hearing news stories from Europe. They’ve been one or two months ahead of us and I hope we don’t get another surge. I think our vaccination rates are higher?
Heh, I mix and matched my first two doses (Pfizer then Moderna) as Canada permitted that and I wanted the first vaccine I could get. Not sure what my booster should be. I guess either. My fiancé got three Moderna (he is IC), ooooh lol jk jk.
@copa yeah I can ask my fiancé. The uncle who is hosting also thinks COVID is not a big deal but he probably would still be vaccinated. It caused tension between my fiancé’s mom and his uncle though since she’s a teacher while he can wfh.
Thinking more, one difference between private home and event space is ventilation.
I think if your dentist is offering the booster, might as well take it, Kate. I started listening today’s Daily with Dr. Fauci and he said that the booster is not so much a bonus but part of the treatment.
My parents will be eligible next month once they hit the 6 month mark.
My fiancé’s family is having a holiday gathering at his uncle’s place. I think 40 people would go. I don’t know why I’m more ok with a 150 person wedding than this. Maybe it’s because I know for sure everyone was vaccinated at the wedding? I’m not sure if everyone on his side has been vaccinated; I think they are.
It is kind of stupid that right now we are still only allowed 25 people inside for private gatherings but no capacity for places where vaccines are mandated. I guess that’s point.
I also did sign up for a gym near where we moved. Again vaccines are required. I’m kind of excited. At my old gym only members who had personal training could use the TRX and kettle bells but here so long as there isn’t a class we can use them.
I am sorry about your friend BGM. You take care too.
That is so strange and unprofessional, Kate.
Are any of your offices having holiday parties? We have one planned. Right now I feel ok about it since we are all vaccinated. It still feels weird though.
I am so happy for all those who can get their kids vaccinated!!
We went to our first normal ish wedding since this all began. It was really good just socializing. I will say at the reception we were pretty much non masked. I did when I got a drink at the bar but otherwise with all the eating and drinking we didn’t really wear masks. Vaccines are mandated here for receptions.
For some reason the numbers are ticking up in Ontario. It is frustrating because there’s nothing else we can do other than get vaccinated. I don’t see how we can restrict capacity much anymore. Hopefully once our government approves vaccines for kids we will be better again before Christmas.
