Thanks. Exactly, people know when it’s an obligation invite.
It’s going well! I’m happy that we each had our own place before and had our own stuff and that our new place has space for it. Our living room is right now an amalgamation of our furniture and they fortunately match. I kind of like it like that… We did have to go through the duplicates like colanders and random stuff, haha. Getting used to a gas stove. Neighbours are nice… almost too nice haha.
That is amazing @Cleo! Omg jealous, that is fun.
We have been living at our place for almost three weeks. So far we haven’t killed each other haha. It’s been good. Still finding a rhythm. Kind of figuring out what we do at night after work!
Today’s excitement however was I dropped my engagement ring down the bathroom sink! He retrieved it from the P trap with minimal complaint and I’m grateful for that. I don’t usually take my ring off in the washroom at all but it just happened, and we had removed the plug since it was acting up.
My colleague is getting married next week and basically the whole office is going which with spouses is about 20 people. Fortunately COVID has settled down and she will have basically a normal wedding. Our other colleagues have also invited everyone in the office to their weddings. My fiancé and I decided that we would only invite my direct boss/manager and our assistants.
I am in a weird position because I only have one manager and no counterparts whereas the others would have four-five managers and counterparts. I really don’t work or know the other senior people at the office that well although we are all friendly. I like the other colleagues in my age group and would want to invite them but then I’d feel like I’m excluding part of management and I think it’s kind of an all or none thing. It’s also a lot of additional guests including spouses.
I am sure the senior management wouldn’t want to come to my wedding. But it does feels weird that basically my colleague’s wedding is an office event and I am different.
Congrats Cleo!! Do you mind me asking if you are moving provinces or staying out west? Good luck on your defence!
With duckies, do you find rain still splashes up? Can you tuck in your pants in?
That’s another thing with wide fit jeans vs skinny. I don’t have good memories of long jeans and snow.
Voted for your pup too! Hehehe.
Went to our first concert over the weekend since the pandemic. Vaccines were required. Felt good to slowly get back to normal!
Ontario premier announced that they’ll be lifting vaccine mandates in January which bugs me because it gives anti vaxxers a date to wait it out.
Congrats @allornone! That’s great you get free testing too. It costs about $40 CAD to do non symptomatic testing and I wish it were more available for the piece of mind.
Ugh it’s been so humid here too @copa. I don’t want to turn on the AC out of principle but it’s just so warm.
I’m sorry @peggy. I hope your loved ones get the surgery they need. It disgusts me that restaurants are openly not abiding by vaccine passports.
Dr. Fauci’s comment about how it’s too soon to see for Christmas gatherings made me realize that my family is doing Canadian Thanksgiving pretty much normally. I don’t know the rules on private gatherings anymore. We are all vaccinated except for my niece. I have probably been more rule abiding than my family. I’m so tired. Yes we should be vigilant but still. Also I feel Ontario is actually doing ok.
That is exciting relationship stuff @copa! Glad you could see your family. Sounds like an awesome birthday celebration!
https://www.essensedesigns.com/stella-york/wedding-dresses/7177/ is the dress ☺️ I got it in “moscato” (the blush champagne one at the top) instead of ivory. That was part of the indecision since I thought I wanted an ivory dress but the moscato looked really nice on me.
It is dawning on me that we might not be “normal” by next spring. I knew it was possible but I honestly thought we were seeing the end once we had vaccinations. We’ve been planning as if there were no capacity restrictions. And even if there weren’t I still wouldn’t want to have a super spreader event. I don’t mind masks but I hope there can be dancing. We are going to go ahead though at whatever capacity restrictions.
I’m invited to a wedding in November. We will see if she reschedules. Right now we are allowed 25 percent indoors with no dancing, 50 percent indoors without dancing and 100 people outdoors. It will be mandatory to be vaccinated to go to wedding receptions. I wonder with the capacity restrictions will lift. Then again with delta I am not sure.
My work has mandated vaccines or testing twice a week. I am happy with that. A little surprised since they have been slow on COVID protocol otherwise. There is definitely one person who is unvaccinated. I don’t know why but I am ok not knowing. Although I do overall support vaccine passports I still do feel uncomfortable with the privacy aspect.
I heard Biden is mandating vaccine policies for private companies for over 100 employees?
Ontario’s vaccine passport is coming on September 22. Antivaxxers are protesting at hospitals which is so disgusting. Go to the place where they make policy!
I think they have officially approved booster shots for immunocompromised so my fiancé is looking into that as he might fall into the category.
@LisforLeslie, just curious, do you think Sinovac will be eventually on the approved list for incoming travellers? I only ask since you seem to be in the field! I know it’s just speculation. I ask because my family in Hong Kong have been vaccinated with Sinovac and if they come to Canada they still need to do mandatory quarantine, last I checked.Ooh, I am almost out of my smoothing serum. Thanks for the reminder @Kate.
Well, we closed on the house!! We have some work to do so we won’t be moving officially until October but we have started moving some stuff.
I also “said yes to the dress” recently! It was mainly a good experience. I am a bit indecisive in life so that also applied here but I’m happy with it 🙂
So anybody going on any awesome dates/any other relationship updates? We met up with my fiance’s friend this weekend for the first time since the pandemic started and finally met his girlfriend. They started dating right at the beginning of the pandemic. From what I gather, in early pandemic dating there are a lot of park dates.
A wedding vendor I follow (but thankfully am not using) just shared a story comparing vaccine to the Holocaust and forcing Jews to identify themselves. Not the same thing. Unfollowing her now but oh man. Anti vaxxers are here in Canada too.
I think a good analogy of vaccines is comparing it to indoor smoking. Not getting vaccinated is not just affecting you. I know I’m preaching to the choir here. I’m just getting so tired.
I am glad you are still testing negative, @copa. Sending positive thoughts for your boyfriend’s continued recovery.
That’s the thing, what’s the turning point when people will think it’s ok to get the vaccine. It’s a freaking miracle that the vaccine which took years to develop became ready at the right time.
I’m just so annoyed at the unvaccinated who are against vaccine passports saying if everyone in the venue is vaccinated why can’t I go in since they won’t get sick. So selfish and missing the point.
