That is so messed up Kate! That is the wrong way to give feedback, as you know. I do Toastmasters and we’ve been meetingthe past 18 months online. It has been helpful for online meetings, eg not having the camera lower and more straight on, eye contact with the camera not the screen. It is a fear of mine that my internet will conk out when I’m in an awkward pose.

I have been at the office for the last year which I am grateful about. However it took forever for them to produce a written policy of masks and distancing.

I think my fiancé has really been facing the effects of WFH especially because right now he is in a one bedroom condo and there’s basically no separation of work and home. Glad we are getting a bigger space soon.

I’m sorry about the shingles anonymousse. The last tv show I loved was Schitt’s Creek.

I think Canada is going to introduce booster shots for those immunocompromised (eg those going through chemo). My fiancé is taking medication that suppresses his immune system. Reading about your friend’s husband I realize that he could have breakthrough case too. Hopefully not.

I am so sorry @copa. I hope your boyfriend continues to get better and that you do not get it. Also I’m sorry to hear about your grandmother. Maybe you will be safe within the 14 days before. Keeping hopeful for you both.

I am grateful for that, @Fyodor. They’ve only started recently posting data about breakthrough cases and they are happening — on a per 100k basis though they are much lower than the unvaccinated (duh).

I’m glad to hear about mask mandates in schools where you guys are.

Everyone whose had a CPAP machine has loved it. Hope you get yours soon TheLadyE!

I didn’t encounter a personal experience with COVID until my cousin who lived in an apartment got it in February 2021. He was so careful but it must be the multi residential living situation. I fortunately haven’t heard of any breakthrough cases even “friend of a friend”. I am nervous though. We all still wear masks but sure we are going to outdoor baby showers and such.

@TheLadyE! It’s good to hear from you but sad to hear about your friend. Hang in there. How are you doing?

Time flies!! I think we had the same discussion last year too. You’re right we do have clear doubles like coffee makers. But some stuff like plates and cutlery —- I think it’s good to have more?

Oh yeah LisforLeslie, we are outside Toronto, without getting too particular. Def can’t afford Toronto! I might need your advice on renos/decor haha.

I’m super bummed that it seems like we are entering the fourth wave here in Canada. I thought we were done. I’m concerned for my parents and elderly friends who are vaccinated but might still get COVID because of selfish people. I think we can still target the uneducated and racialized communities for the vaccine. However after that I am done. I haven’t seen as many news reports of kids getting COVID in Canada (though I haven’t really followers but I dread that it will come once school starts in September.

I’m grateful though that we got to see my brother for the first time in 18 months last week and spend time together. His province no longer has a mask mandate and his cab driver to the airport didn’t have a mask. It was probably the longest time my brother has spent time with a stranger unmasked since this all started.

Thank you @rangerchic and @copa! We are closing in September. So soon! I’m outside of Toronto and the market has been crazy as well but maybe cooling this summer? We are happy with what we got but it’s hard to think how prices have increased in the last year. This probably won’t be our forever home but we do plan to stay so hopefully prices will at least hold.

That’s a bummer @copa but that is good to have a space/desk dedicated to work. Is your boyfriend in the other bedroom?

My fiancé and I bought a house!! We are so excited. We have been looking for a couple months. I guess we weren’t exactly rushed, hoping to find a place in the next year, and the market has been kind of crazy. I’m really happy with what we found and hopefully it’s something we can grow into. It will be officially our first time living together but I think during the pandemic we have spent enough time together, ha ha. It’s (fortunately) the most stressed we’ve been and even though we got a bit testy at times, I’m glad I’m doing this with him.

I think that’s what gets me, LisforLeslie. The living with yourself.

My brother is visiting right now. We haven’t seen him for 18 months. We are at a cottage my famili (sister/BIL/niece/nephew; bro; my fiance; my parents) rented right now and it’s so nice. It’s the first time I’ve really hugged my mom. I only stopped wearing a mask with my family last week. I don’t want to let this go.

At least in Ontario there are still mask mandates. The return to school plan released today is basically useless.

That is disgusting they want them to die. That crossed my mind too since Biden didn’t hit the vaccination target. Then again if they die won’t they lose voters? Sorry this is morbid.

It is disconcerting to see the rise in Delta in the States. It is helpless to get those who don’t want the vaccine to get vaccinated.

OT but I listened to the Daily about how we are in a new digital Cold War and it’s like woohoo something else to worry about.
