Ver!!! Happy anniversary. Hope you and the baby are doing well.
July 19th, 2015 is when the husband and I had our first date. I legit need to go back and read from the beginning. There was one dude commenting early convinced we wouldn’t last. I think I wrote about one real issue that we overcame pretty easily.
The only way $100/ week for groceries makes sense is if it includes eating out. I live in Chicago and grocery shop at Whole Foods. Prior to marriage, my weekly grocery bill was $40 to $60. Sometimes it might have been a little more if I ran out of vinegars oils.
Pre-pandemic for two and still shopping at Whole Foods it was about $60-$80. That included breakfast and lunches for me and dinners for both of us. Post-pandemic it was more like $100-$120, but that was for all meals at home for two of us.
Regardless, yes, her out of your house. And also still consider therapy. Therapy helps.
@copa picked up two expenses I also noticed. A tank of gas a week seems like a lot of gas for someone who works from home. $100/month is also a lot for toiletries. I don’t even think we spend that for two of us. Groceries are also seem a little high, unless that includes eating out. You could easily do around $50/week for groceries. Maybe some weeks a little more if you need to stock up on olive oil and other stuff like that.
Yeah, the husband did wait until he tested negative on the rapid to do anything. I should have clarified about the PCR vs. Rapid.
ETA: I quarantined for the full 10 days after my PCR test in January and didn’t test again.

The husband only took rapid tests when he had Covid in May. The first day he tested, it was a faint line. The next day, it was a full blown, yes he definitely has Covid line.
I’m not sure if it means anything about how contagious you are?
When I had it in January, my doctor told me that I could test + for several months, but not actually still have it and/or be contagious.
So, I dunno?
We made it. With two minutes to spare. Phew!
We were stuck in Newark last Nov for 8ish hours due to delays/weather/flight attendants timing out. That was coming home from Ireland.
The people watching in airports is definitely amazing.
I’m glad your sister is ok with the delay @List, but sorry to hear about your grandma.
We had to “home alone” it through Miami on Monday. As we were approaching our gate, we heard our names come on the speaker and if we weren’t there within two minutes, our seats would have gone to standby people. Talk about stressful!!
The entire travel day Monday was stressful. In Ecuador, they did random screening at the gate. I was flagged. Had to take off shoes, open my bag, they swiped everything. Then the Miami debacle…. we both have Global Entry, but the husband was flagged because his name was similar to another passenger. He was escorted to a separate room. I had already made it through and the security guard told me to keep moving. I didn’t know what was happening. They finally let the husband call me. After we collected our bags, we had to go back through security to board our Miami to Chicago flight. It was a MESS. People were trying to butt in front of others because they were afraid to miss their flight. We’re all like NO, we’re going to miss our flight too. I’m sorry, but deal. And then when we got to security, there was a shift change so they stopped running the baggage conveyor. Like I said, we missed our flight by two minutes.
So happy I took off work yesterday to recover.
We made it! When we arrived in Quito, they gave us a PCR test and then the morning we were to board the ship, we had a rapid test.
We had to fly from Quito to the Galapagos. Landing, I got super emotional because I’m so happy to be here. Today was a strict ship day. Tomorrow the fun starts. We’re doing two long hikes on different islands. And two snorkel sessions on those islands.
It’s whale migration season. We may see some humpbacks. The crew saw a blue whale the other day. Here’s hoping!
@kate, it’s also baby season, so we’re likely to see some baby animals too. We’ve already met some cool people. Our 100 person cruise is mostly the above 60 crowd. There’s a couple families. And there’s about 10 of us in the 30-50 range. We’ve formed our own little group with the later crowd.
