@copa, Girls of a Certain Age did a blazer post today. She’s a former Lucky editor in chief. She might run a bit older, but I like some of her stuff.

Wendy, the only thing I sort of miss is the “most recent post” on the right hand side of the old blog. I liked that it was for the forum too. I’ve adjusted though and am fine. Congrats on the uptick!!! And I still like the new layout.

My dad was 50 and my mom, 48, when the niece was born. I have young parents who ended up being young grandparents. I hope the same doesn’t happen for my sister. The husband also has young parents. The six of us are actually vacationing together next year. I love that they all get along really well, especially since the husband is an only. We never have to make hard holiday decisions or anything.

My oldest niece turns 18 tomorrow and heads to college at the end of the week. Eek! It feels so weird to have a kid (my youngest sister had the first great grandchild on both sides) headed off to college.

We’re all quite close, so despite her not being my own, it hits hard.

This was also the first year I didn’t go home for her birthday. She didn’t want a celebration.

EDT: I remember when my sister called to tell me she was pregnant. She had just turned 19 and I was about to turn 25, living thousands miles away. The first think I asked was if she was getting an abortion. Because my god, she was 19. She didn’t. My niece is an intelligent, sarcastic, beautiful young woman. I’m glad she had the option though.

My family preached abstinence only. My sister used the pullout method. I know my sister has struggled, and that’s with a good support system. Sex education is so important.

I love Lizzo. Her music makes me happy, as does her generally positive nature. She always seems joyful.

I was disappointed to read about the allegations and decided to reserve judgment about the lawsuit. I was even more disappointed to hear a few more people step forward. It looks bad, but I’m still holding judgment and giving her the benefit of the doubt.

There are so many people who want to see her fail. People who dislike her, really, really dislike her and it’s mostly because she’s a large Black woman who is proud of her body and shows it off. They want to take her down. So I’m not going to jump automatically on the hate train. I’ll wait to see how it plays out.

We’re watching the Bear tonight. The fucking Xmas episode was intense. Omg. Wow. I’m so happy they followed it up with the episode that features Ever. Such a fun watch. Plus, Curtis Duffy is my cheat. Not really. But I wish. The husband knows I’m enamored.

The story line is definitely for adults, but the I think there’s enough silliness, color and fun scenes that kids will enjoy. My friend’s 7 year old liked it.

All of my friends who have seen it, and I had a few go last weekend, loved it.

McKinnon is the Barbie that kids play rough with. I definitely had a Barbie that I cut her hair. My excuse to my parents was “I wanted to be like dad, who’s a barber, and I was practicing”. Ha!

50, nice! Enjoy!! I think my parents hit 47 this year.

Barbie was everything I wanted and more. I thought that I’d be disappointed because I built it up so much. I wasn’t. Loved it. So many people were dressed up and/or in pink!

FUN!! I was going to dress up as 80s workout barbie or whatever. Think Jane Fonda-esque, but got too self conscious about it.

Will do. I’m going with a friend, and then oddly, an older woman we met while on a double date.

Background: A couple months ago, we went to Gretel for a double date and ended up sitting at a communal table. It was Mother’s Day weekend and a lovely gentleman and his mom ended up sitting next to us. We were all chatting. The gentleman recognized my husband from college. They had mutual friends, apparently. Small world! My friend and I were talking the Barbie movie. The mom piped in. My friend invited her. We exchanged numbers. And we’re all going!!

I’m going to see Barbie in T-minus 4 hours. I’M SO EXCITED!! This is my first time ever going to a movie on opening day. I know, I know, Barbie is problematic. But I loved playing Barbie’s as a kid and into my early teen years. I played until I was way too old to be playing. I’m ready for a little nostalgia mixed with shades of pink.

EDT: It would be even more perfect if I were going with my two older cousins. We’d play until all hours of the night!

Also, Wendy, I’m really digging the new site layout. I like the tweaks you’ve been making.

This is the BEST place to vent. It has got to be hard to want so desperately to help someone but they get in their own way or are afraid for whatever reason(s). I can’t even pretend to know what it’s like in the military and how to survive. I hope he works it out. Definitely take care of yourself too.

Even though Louise Penny’s Three Pines books are in a fictional Canadian town in Quebec, I desperately want to visit Montreal because of them.

We’re three episodes into Season 2. Last night, they featured a couple of my good ol’ standbys, Avec and PQM, the former I hosted my 40th bday brunch and the later catered our rooftop wedding party. I’m super excited to see the episode that features Ever. I’m slightly obsessed with Duffy, even though I heard he doesn’t appear. The restaurant is gorgeous at least.
