Louise Penny’s books are excellent. Highly recommend. I love the world she created and I do suggest reading her Three Pines series in order. But I’m also definitely a suspense/mystery person.
I’m slightly obsessed w/ Seth Meyers. He and his brother started a podcast, Family Trips, that I’m enjoying. And I always find his YouTube clips cheer me up. The husband and I both get a kick out of “Corrections.”
Those are just a couple suggestions of things I like / am liking.
We’re watching The Bear too. If it weren’t in Chicago, I’m not entirely sure I’d enjoy it as much.
Snoozeberries are THE BEST. So you can count me as a sleep edible user too.
I took ThinkSport with me to the Galapagos last summer because 1. I needed to bring something environmentally friendly; and 2. we were on the equator. It’s a little thicker than I prefer. I’m back to Goop’s Unseen. I tried the La Roche Posay sunsreen and I liked Unseen better.
I haven’t tried a lot of others, so am of no help.
I’ve typically worn black to most evening weddings. There was some advice blog not too long ago and a lot of the commenters were against black for weddings, so I was second guessing my choices.
I had an impeccable black lace dress that I wore a lot. While I haven’t gained weight, my proportions are a little different and my dress no longer fits comfortably. I’m on the search for another.
This one is on super sale, so am considering. But nervous because no returns.
Peggy, I’m so sorry that happened to your sister. What a horrible tragedy. I’m happy you were able to find some peace and not take up more headspace than needed with that guy. It’s still hard, I’m sure.
Benign breast tissue. Which I was sure of, but glad to get the call regardless. The nurses/techs were so, so nice, which was a comfort.
My mom had planned to be a stay at home mom. My dad is a barber. Life had something different in mind. My older sister was born with a rare liver disease. For her 1.7 years of life, she was in and out of the hospital weekly. After she passed, my mom got a job solely for insurance purposes. It took them 20+ years to pay off those medical bills. INSANITY!!
What drives me nuts now is the different pricing based on insurance, etc. The example anon cited is a great example of that. As is List’s example of her doc jacking up the price for the insurance.
It’s so fucked up.
Good luck on the solo portion Copa!!
Hfantods, I really wanted to like Hadestown. I think I would have liked it had it been a different cast. The singing was so off. It almost seemed amateurish for a broadway play. So, if it’s the same cast, I wouldn’t recommend.
I had a similar problem with Six. I saw the original cast before the show hit Broadway. They premiered it in the states at the Shakespeare theater in Chicago. I saw it again when it came back and was disappointed. The original was SO GOOD.
I told the husband maybe we need to start flying to NYC if there’s a show we really want to see. I’m kidding of course. I have liked other shows when they come to a Chicago.
We’re headed to a show tonight, Hadestown. I’m pretty excited.
I got a call from Northwestern earlier today, which is where I’m getting the procedure to make sure the calcifications in my breast is ok. They called to discuss cost. It’s fucking expensive for something I’m guessing isn’t anything, but I suppose it’s better to be safe.
EDT: I wanted to ask “how much would it cost if you didn’t know I had insurance.” The husbands’s vasectomy was cheaper without putting it on his insurance. Anyway. Healthcare costs are crazy and the system makes no sense.
I did ask what the cost was without insurance, but they knew I had it. Would love to know if it’s the same for people without any insurance.
