I started running hot at night a few years ago and sleep better when it’s cooler. What I’ve experienced twice now is not like that at all. Wendy’s description of a furnace is better than mine of boiling. I’ve never felt such intense hotness within my being. The first time, it lasted during the day too. Actually about two days straight. The second, it wasn’t quite a full day.
The no temperature and no other symptoms made me think of peri. And honestly, I don’t know that I’d know much about it if it weren’t for this site and Wendy, so thank you! People don’t talk about it. The first time, I might have called my doctor because I’m like WTF am I feeling!?!
One day soon!
This is the first time in recent memory we’re not going on a Jan/Feb trip. I guess that’s not true, our 2021 winter trip happened in early Spring, after we were vaccinated. Our first trip this year is our annual Hilton Head trip with two of my cousins, then we’re taking my niece to Italy in June for her high school graduation present.
Off topic, but not really. Perimenopause… since you’ve posted about it @Wendy. Do you actually sweat or does your body get super hot? About a month ago, my body got super hot, but I didn’t sweat and I didn’t have a fever. I usually run cold, but I felt like I was boiling on the inside. I thought it might be me starting to go through perimenopause, but I had trouble finding anything on a hot body that didn’t involve sweating. It’s happened twice now and lasts around a day. I just turned 43.
I’m the same. I only do gel if I’m going on vacation. Good to know about the dip color. I was thinking about trying it, but likely won’t now.
I LOVE my current nail salon. A regular manicure can last me a week or so, no chips. This is the first place I’ve been where this happens. I don’t know what they do, but whatever it is, I like it.
Right. I wasn’t necessarily raised that you had to be “pure” to get a husband. But I was raised in a small city (40k) in a conservative, Catholic household. Premarital sex = NO, according to my parents, specifically my dad.
There are plenty of people I know (again, this is mostly from my hometown) who still think that women will only know happiness/be worth something if they find and land a man. They are still preaching this to young girls. Today. In 2023.
Ooh, the symphony! I want to go when they’re scoring a movie. In late spring 2020, they were going to do Jurassic Park, and I wanted to go so badly. I hope they consider doing that movie again. They’ve done Jaws, Home Alone, and this Friday they’re doing the first Harry Potter movie.
Is MSI open on Monday? I babysat my niece on Saturday while my sis, BIL and nephew went to the Lego exhibit. It looked pretty cool! The exhibit is over on the 16th. That’s actually a neighborhood I haven’t explored (Hyde Park), so told the husband I’d like to this year.
I know you said not food or drink related, but this is music related. Dying to go to the Salt Shed, the fairly new concert venue at the old Morton Salt factory.
My main 2023 goal is to waste less. I already failed last week when I accidentally left the pot of soup I made out overnight. My fave soup. That I had to throw away. SO SAD. Here’s to hoping I get it together soon!
P.S. I’m super excited for this weekend. I’m taking off Friday for my B-day. I have a body scrub, massage and facial scheduled. My actual birthday is Saturday. I booked us a spot at After, Curtis Duffy’s new bar. I love him and am super excited.
Re: Tanning – my phototherapy treatment, they had me put sunscreen on any place I didn’t have spots. WELL, the only place that didn’t have spots was my face/neck. Everywhere else, I had to put vaseline. It sucked, being covered in vaseline from shoulders to toes. So gross! I went through three tubes.
Phototherapy is basically a stand up tanning bed. Had to wear those goggles too.
My laser hair removal is legs, extended bikini line and armpits. It only really hurts around the ankles and a little bit on the bikini line.
I decided to finally do it because my sensitive skin HATES shaving. Like, I had to use a body scrub every time I shaved. Then shave with a sharp razor. Then apply lotion immediately after otherwise it would feel like my legs were burning. It SUCKED.
I have naturally coarse, thick hair, so I guess that might have contributed to the irritation.
It made it a pain while traveling, especially since I usually carry on vs. checked luggage.
