I do! Printer’s Row Athletico actually (the one on state and 8th). I see Ally Walker. She’s the DPT there and also specializes in pelvic/womens health. Young, personable, very very nice.
November 11, 2020 at 3:56 pm #964295PT was a godsend.. I’m not sure if it’s because I started right away or because this is just a different baby, but I’ve been mobile the entire time (unlike last time when I was hobbling around starting at 33 weeks). Can’t be sidelined with a toddler that needs to be chased.
Thanks all… will let you know the outcome and major differences pre-pandemic versus post. So far, doctors and care has been great. I know they are struggling through this as well (limiting their personal risks in order to safely, effectively and consistently provide care.. where some of us can “afford” some risk, they cannot. The mental exhaustion for them is real)
November 11, 2020 at 2:59 pm #964289I’m so in for the gluhwein truck.
I’ve been getting regular massage once they reopened. It’s part of my care process for pregnancy and it’s 100% masked up. I did one mani/pedi back in June.. I’m planning to go next week pre-delivery. I was also doing PT since September (also 100% masked and distanced).
I did cancel my gym membership even though they are 100% masked as well (I just couldn’t find time to go with a toddler and another on the way. Plus, my main form of exercise is and will continue to be running outside.)
**so anyway yes, I do a lot of “normal care” things like dr’s appointments, massage, haircut, daycare for my daughter, going to work, but the counter to that is I don’t go to people’s houses/socialize. The one vacation with my husband’s family back in june, we tested a few days before meeting up and kept our outside interactions limited to going to work the week leading up to and after.**Gearing up for delivery! Induction is scheduled for the 20th, but there’s a good chance I go beforehand. Hospital protocol seems to be same as summer.. rapid covid test upon entry for the woman, partner has to remain masked unless in the room alone with birthing parent. If I’m too quick again, I’ll automatically be delivered in full PPE if they can’t get a result back in time (hence the induction scheduled).
A family member with a history of anxiety was transported to the hospital by ambulance Saturday night for what turned out to be a major panic attack. They’ve been very very strict/cautious since the lockdown, but I think what triggered it was that a person at their work got covid. They all wear masks and were not in close contact with that person. They did receive a negative test, but I think it all just spiraled. They didn’t have great coping mechanisms beforehand, and now without any outlets or support etc, it just culminated. I hope it finally brings them to start working with a therapist.
November 10, 2020 at 1:05 pm #964223@copa: we are members at the Shedd and it’s actually more pleasant to go now than pre-covid. I’ll probably do the art museum and field once I’ve had the baby as something to do during the day (that I can walk where its warm).
Cross country skiis would be great, I’ve always wanted some. Unfortunately the quality of the snow in Chicago is just not reliable. If I was up north, I would totally buy a pair. They used to rent them at Northerly, wonder if they will again this year?
@veritek: Love the cooking around the world! We’ve been doing that, and actually doing more cooking techniques too. I received a year subscription to America’s Test Kitchen and we tape all the episodes on PBS. That’s pretty fun to watch (and then use for ideas for future meals).
We like to check out Frank Lloyd Wright houses.. so whenever we’re out, we make a point to drive past or do a tour.
I’ve seen lots of online “tours” of places (historical or travel), perhaps you can do theme nights?
November 2, 2020 at 1:54 pm #963923@copa.. I really hope they throw the books at him, especially since this doens’t seem like an isolated incident. I hope your friend is on the road to physical recovery right now.
October 30, 2020 at 11:24 am #963854@Copa, the other thing to think about it what kind of cooking do you plan to do? I vote gas for sure, but are you looking to do the standard GE profile or do an upgrade to a fancy one like a wolf or viking? also, check out costco for deals and sales etc.
October 29, 2020 at 9:28 am #963797@Copa, holy shit, I’m so sorry. That is awful awful news. I hope he’s charged, and that she is on the road to recovery.
October 27, 2020 at 2:16 pm #963723I’m going to try and get early in person voting done this weekend.
October 23, 2020 at 1:59 pm #963587Was just on a call for my university and their positivity rate last week was 0.6%. It hasn’t been over 1% at any week. They are a hybrid of inperson and elearning, the campus/dorms are open, etc, but are fastidious about masks, quarantining etc. They changed the break schedules to discourage anyone from actually leaving /traveling campus. Anyway, why this has worked is that they baselined the population with randomized testing, then continued testing 1/4 of the on-campus population every week. All cases they found were asymptomatic and were quickly quarantined. So it can work (maybe they should be leading the plans for other universities?). I dunno, it’s a virus and there is no “winning,” just trying to minimize the spread while continuing onward until there is a vaccine.
October 14, 2020 at 1:01 pm #963255I think my work browser has been blocking my entries. Anyway, I bought some new Sorel last year that are much lighter weight, less ankle-tearing and very warm.

For Halloween this year, we’re doing a trick or treat scavenger hunt in the park with her three daycare friends and then the neighborhood decided to do an alley-way trick or treat to garages with candy tables set up. Figured that was the most out-of-doors, distanced and safe thing. One of the families has a little girl going through chemo and it was their idea especially since they have 4 other kids.
Also infuriating. We bought a new car. It’s red. My parents made some pro-trump comment based on the color.. I said absolutely not. “Vote life” says my mother. Yea, don’t even get me going there cause that man cares about no ones life. Like, she was surprised I wouldn’t vote Republican? Really? This is just willful ignorance.
October 5, 2020 at 9:25 am #962908One of our neighbors stopped by yesterday with a bottle of wine! hooray! They are some of the original owners in the hood, and it was a very nice welcome (and extremely helpful “knock anytime” types).
Weekend was fairly productive with washing walls in the kids rooms and unpacking more. Made first dinner in the new place (pozole in the slow cooker, so nothing fancy, but not take out). The week ahead is nuts.. my daughter turned two, so hopefully mask-wearing goes well today at daycare. I need to take a day off work to pain or do something. I know what little energy I still have will be rapidly decreasing as i get further and further along
