Hi everyone! I haven’t said much around here for awhile but I went out on a first date last night! I reactivated my eHarmony profile a couple weeks ago and I met a really sweet guy on there who I have a lot in common with. He seems lovely, really an upstanding guy and really involved in his faith as I am, and we have so many similar interests. He’s definitely more of an introvert than I am (and I am one too, but I also work in sales, heh) and I usually date really charismatic, extroverted guys BUT obviously I needed to break my pattern.
He told me I was his first date after his divorce (he’s been divorced for about 6 months, in NC you have to be separated for a year before you get divorced) and he was really nervous but he had a great time so that’s good! He definitely laughed a lot. Sometimes, since I am more extroverted than he is, I felt like I was carrying the conversation/performing a little, but it was just a first date and he does seem suuuper sweet. We’ve already planned to see each other again on Sunday evening. 🙂
AND as I was typing this he sent me a text message to tell me to have a nice day. Aww.
lucia_laJune 9, 2016 at 9:04 am #541595I reactivated my okcupid profile for the first time in forever. One of the first suggested matches was the firefighter I was seeing – 96% match according to their algorithm! thanks ever so much, okcupid!
My roommate is trying to get me to go to a festival outside the city this weekend with concerts and fire spinning and stuff. I’m tempted to go because i would like to meet some new people outside of my normal circles. But then I feel like it might be all the hippie/druggie or renaissance fair type crowd that I’m not really into. Might just stay in town and go biking with friends. My stomach has also been upset lately so festival might not be the best choice. I dunno, I can’t decide.
Well, it is official. I have gone exclusive with my gentleman caller. 🙂 No one is rushing to introduce each other to our parents or anything, but it turns out that we had both already deactivated our online accounts and stopped looking. I have to say, I am pretty happy about this…it’s been literally years since i had an exclusive relationship.
yay LadyE and Abbytoo! How exciting! I hope things continue to go well.
@lucia that happened to me with an old ex. He and I are friends, but when I went to get back on okc he was one of the first that popped up for me a year or so ago. Been there done that lol. I hope you go to the festival and have some fun! (maybe just don’t eat the food if your stomach is bothering you)I had a date last night to go see a musical and it was so much fun. My cheeks hurt from laughing so much and he was so much fun to hang out with and it was just a really good time.
And as an aside to anyone that has experience with antidepressants: did anyone else feel like a million times better being off the meds after years being on them? I’m med free for the first time in 3+ years and I’m happier than I’ve been in a really, really long time. So maybe it’s being drug free or maybe I’m just really happy with life right now, but either way it’s a welcome change!
TheLadyEJune 9, 2016 at 10:23 pm #542738@Veritek So happy you had such a good time! Those are awesome, those evenings that leave you smiling the whole next day.
When I read that, I thought…I hope the guy I saw last night felt the same way today. At one point, he was laughing so hard I thought he was going to fall off the bar stool. It was kind of the best. 🙂
kareJune 10, 2016 at 1:27 am #542974I’m excited for you guys! Keep us updated!
I am freaking exhausted this week. I’ve been sick since Monday, and the medicine I’ve been taking has caused me to wake up every couple of hours. I also had a conference call at 1 AM that just ended because the customer didn’t show up. I’m so glad I’m off next week.
Next week my FWB and I have a spa day planned for my birthday. 🙂
Kare – i can’t even fathom a work call at 1 am! Is this international or something?? I hope you get some rest. I’ve had bad insomnia for the last few months that’s just starting to get better so I don’t wish bad sleep upon anyone.
The spa sounds fun! I need to make an appointment for a massage. The girl that does my deep tissue is awesome and we share a bottle of wine whenever I come because I’m the last appointment of the day usually. She prefers the wine as her tip and the spa allows it as long as I bring it in and not her. We usually make it halfway through the bottle and she gets to keep the rest!
Poor @Kare, I hope you feel better soon! It sucks when you have time off and you don’t feel well…
Yesterday was mine and the Cockney’s five year anniversary, where the heck has that time gone? I’m proposing a walk and dinner at this cute Greek place I found, YUM. Proper Greek food is not the easiest to find here, which is weird considering how close it is.
kareJune 10, 2016 at 10:24 am #543608@veritek this wasn’t an international customer, but their business needs to have minimal downtime because we were doing a change to their network. Which is fine – but not when they don’t show up to the call. We will have to repeat it once I’m back from vacation.
Wine and a massage sounds amazing! I think this place has complimentary champagne, which I will drink. The FWB doesn’t really drink, and definitely won’t drink champagne because of the sugars, so it will be all mine.
@Nookie that sounds like a lovely evening! Congrats on 5 years! I think it’s a good sign if the time is flying by. Isn’t it weird how when you date the right person, time passes so quickly, but if you date the wrong person it feels like eternity? That’s one of my relationship barometers now.Congrats nookie! I love greek food so please eat some for me!
Kare I hope you have a great vacation! (and I totally recommend the wine and massage if you’re someone that doesn’t mind talking during a massage. She’s chatty but she’s damn good at deep tissue so I love her and happily tip her in good wine!)
kareJune 10, 2016 at 12:09 pm #543759I know what you mean – the time flies by but then you feel like you’ve known the person forever already. Or something like that.
I am running on caffeine and adrenaline at this point haha. The upside of limiting caffeine to once a week is that it feels more effective when I do have it.
