Ours was quiet but nice. I took SoF* to our city’s Thanksgiving parade, which was fun. We then drove up to BoF’s** parents’house for the holiday. My father in law always puts together a ridiculous spread. Saturday we went to a bar mitzvah for the son of some family friends. We also do an annual calendar with pictures of SoF and HoF*** and spent Sunday walking around taking pictures around town.

I went to his sister’s house and since my boyfriend is vegan, we tag teamed to make vegan sides (I made roasted brussel sprouts and he made gravy, stuffing, and green bean casserole) and I bought a Tofurkey and a pie (many grocery store pies are vegan – who knew?). I had met his sister, brother in law and nephew before but had never met his dad and stepmom. We spent a long time talking with them and it was so nice to spend the holiday with him.
We love each other so much and are in a great place, and I’m really happy. 🙂 Then I came home and snuggled with my pups (his sister has 2 big black labs so I didn’t bring my 4lb puppies).
Thanksgiving was great! Despite brining my rescue Ativan I didn’t need it! Fiancée’s family respected our wishes and not a single word about weddings was discussed! We even went to see fiancé’s sister’s apartment and she was pleasant. I’m wondering if either her parents had a word with her or she’s finally starting to understand that her wedding doesn’t put everyone else’s lives on hold? Either way, we survived thanksgiving. Until I hurt my back at the gym on Sunday and now I’m on fun muscle relaxers lol.
We hosted an open house thanksgiving on Saturday for my family and friends and MoV is always in awe of how we pull together an entire meal and then he gets drunk on bourbon ciders and tells me how much he loves me all day and how grateful he is I can cook a turkey because he can’t lol. I love thanksgiving with him 🙂
TheLadyEDecember 10, 2019 at 11:57 pm #864749Just hopping on here to say that I am just so very grateful & happy for my loving relationship with my boyfriend. I piled my puppies in the car and drove to his apartment (30ish minutes away) on Friday night with the intention of only staying one night because he had volunteering Saturday and work on Sunday, but…he didn’t want me to leave. We hung out at his place on Saturday and I had a late lunch/early dinner ready for him when he got home, and his work got cancelled Sunday so we hung out then too. It was just so…easy. So nice. We wore sweatpants (yoga pants for me) all weekend and watched movies (watch The Report on Amazon Prime!) and ate leftover Thanksgiving pie (it’s often vegan in grocery stores, who knew?) and talked about the state of the world, philosophy, politics, etc. Hours and hours of talking. He played with my girls and calls himself their dad. They LOVE him and legit WAILED for the first 5 minutes on the drive home after he said goodbye to them. It was so sweet. I’m so grateful. <3
@TheLadyE That was a nice update! It’s always great to feel like you’ve found a true partner in someone. I’m glad you’re so happy. My dog is absolutely beside himself when BG leaves us. His concern is very sweet and hilarious. This weekend I’m having a party with my dog mom friends (the owners of my dog’s litter mates) and all of us — including the dogs — will be wearing plaid/flannel. So each little family unit is going to match. BG, my pup, and I will all be wearing red/black buffalo plaid. Look out, Insta!
I also laughed aloud about how stunned you are pumpkin pie is vegan. I’ve been trying to reduce my meat/dairy intake with no specific end goal (i.e., don’t presently plan to become vegan, and more of my meals are vegetarian than anything else in any case), but finding vegan junk food/treats seems pretty easy. It’s finding fast vegan meals (like, anything more than a snack) that feels way harder.
TheLadyEDecember 14, 2019 at 7:30 pm #865639@Copa, I was surprised that pies are vegan because of the butter usually used, but most of them are! My boyfriend has a huge sweet tooth so he is all in for pies, dairy free ice cream (Magnum has delicious dairy free ice cream bars), Ben & Jerry’s, etc. This morning we had vegan donuts for breakfast from a specialty pop up baker that we went out of our way to try. The only caveat was they were $4 for one or $20 for six, which is…expensive.
I just had another first – I helped my boyfriend pick out gifts for the ladies in his family (mom, stepmom, and sister). He is very analytical and looks at every angle when buying anything…even slippers at Walmart. It’s adorable. And then another guy at Walmart overheard us and came up and asked me what size slippers he should buy his wife! Haha.
I went to three parties this weekend and I am so tired and full from holiday treats. The third and final party was a cookie exchange with BG’s neighbors last night, where the topic of me moving in with my dog came up. BG and I want/need to know if it’s even an option for us to live there together (I have been warming up to the idea of living there even though a longer commute doesn’t excite me). It’s a small six-unit condo building and pets are not allowed, though nobody minds pets coming to visit — so we’d need his neighbors to either vote in favor of my dog OR change their HOA rules. We learned that everyone likes BG and thinks my dog is sweet, quiet, and well-behaved, so they want to say yes to us because they generally like us and think my dog wouldn’t be a problem… but they wonder if that’s unfair because they’re all unanimously inclined to say no to a kinda off-beat neighbor who they all know wants a dog (she didn’t come). (She dog sits through Rover, which nobody minds, but I guess they find her irresponsible.) So I think they’ll have to raise this as a formal issue to discuss at the next HOA meeting, which will be sometime in early 2020.
@LadyE sounds like a lovely time you’re having! He sounds great.
@Copa I hope they vote in your favor because your dog is adorbs and needs to live there.
Only update I have is that MofV got a promotion and pay increase and that lowers all of our stress levels going into this wedding (in 94 days)
