I know I shouldn’t be shocked at that, but I am.
And what happened to him was truly terrible. Blood was pouring out of his ear.
Things are pretty good right now. A big seafood restaurant in Cambridge has a tent out in the parking lot and we had margaritas and fish. We bought a round for two African American guys and then they sent us shots of tequila.
Also, one of them is a dealer at the casino, and they’ve been paying him PLUS tips this entire time, and it’s not even opening til phase 4.
LisforLeslieJune 10, 2020 at 5:52 am #888543I think he’s just desperate for attention. He held daily briefings until it became clear that reporters were there to ask questions and not to praise him. He can’t handle that he’s not the focus of the nation. That’s why he said such stupid things about George Floyd (It’s a great day for him – you know even though he’s dead) because in in Don-Boy’s mind, all of the signs with Floyd’s name is enviable. His dream is to have marches around the world with signs of his name.
That’s why he’s desperate for a RNC convention that is fully packed – he needs that adulation. And he’s going to get it. And people are going to die and I hope he doesn’t wear a mask and I hope he gets it and it prevents him from campaigning and possibly worse.
To a narcissist – any attention is good attention.
FyodorJune 10, 2020 at 6:57 am #888550Supposedly he saw some kind of conspiracy piece on OANN about how the guy was a secret antifa agent. There’s a guy whose name escapes me whose twitter feed is basically matching up the crazy sh*t he says with things that aired on cable TV shortly before. I just think that he’s a cruel man whose mind is mush and is in a constant state of being upset about things in front of him.
I read somewhere that they are having trouble filling delegate slots because a lot of the delegates are older and afraid to cram into a closed space unmasked. I hope that some kind of wisdom prevails behind the scenes so that people don’t get sick, but I’m not optimistic.
FyodorJune 10, 2020 at 7:44 am #888555In other news, Philadelphia and the rest of southeastern Pennsylvania is moving to “yellow phase” which means offices are allowed to open. My firm has shifts and is only allowing people on their shifts for tasks that require their physical presence and only for long enough to complete those tasks. We’ve got to do a health questionnaire everyday indicating whether we have had any symptoms or exposure or whether we’re planning to come into the office. I’m not sure how many people are actually going in- my work doesn’t really require it and I have no intention of doing so unless I have to, but I get the impression that some other people are kind of anxious to be back.

LisforLeslieJune 10, 2020 at 8:04 am #888561@Fyodor – asking someone if they’ve been exposed is ludicrous and shows that people really don’t understand how this thing works. The WHO had to clarify (so stupid) that asymptomatic carriers can transmit. Which we’ve known for months.
You don’t have to have signs of disease to be actively shedding this disease. They should be asking people if they take public transportation or go to the grocery store, have had dinner or drinks in a restaurant, or have a friend or family member visit (or gone to visit someone in their home).
FyodorJune 10, 2020 at 8:37 am #888570@ListforLeslie, I don’t know if that’s fair. A lot of people get it from known contacts. In many places, people who are confirmed positive are told to notify their contacts so that they can get tested and/or isolate. So I think that the idea is not that you that you were hugging a coughing person on their sickbed but rather that you found out about the exposure after the fact.
They should probably do temperature checks too.
There’s been no word yet on when we’ll go back, but we’ve had updates all along that they’re working with an advisory board of experts and actually modeling different scenarios. The office was already too crowded and they had moved away from any assigned seating, so it’s gonna be a huge undertaking to make it safe. Also people were always jamming into elevators and using multiple floors and conference rooms.
I also dread taking the T again.
Last night was my first experience doing something other than grocery store or pharmacy in almost 3 months, and sitting at an outdoor table far away from other tables felt fine. Not really ready for anything more right now.
LisforLeslieJune 10, 2020 at 9:03 am #888574@Fyodor- yes, it makes sense you’d get it from the people you’re with the most. But it’s not 100%. Think about all of the memorial day parties. People went to parties. Maybe someone was asymptomatic and someone picked it up and is now showing signs. That could take two weeks. So in that time, that asymptomatic carrier has gone about their business shedding Covid around. And maybe some of the people at that party are now also asymptomatic carriers. And we’re two weeks and people have been out and about and not isolating.
That’s how this spreads.
