Why are so many elected officials so fucking dumb? No, seriously. This just leaves me so angry lately.
June 11, 2020 at 1:04 pm #888774@Kate, that is really good news (and hopeful too for reopening measures) about the great clips stylists.
my haircut is tonight. I still haven’t heard if you can get a blow dry in illinois/chicago but I suppose we will see.
@BGM, I’m very sorry about your bad news.
In other news, my friend made me a cutesy hello kitty mask. she was donating proceeds to a domestic violence shelter. it’s much more comfortable than the surgical masks i was wearing (aka doesn’t make me wanna throw up). Either that or its because I’m finally second trimester
MG, my stylist blow dried my hair, but I wasn’t in for a blow out. I got a single process and cut, so my hair had to be washed from the color and then she cut some wet but always finishes the cut dry. She even asked if I wanted product/styled after, I declined.
In summary, everything was done like normal, however we were both wearing masks the entire time. When she needed to work around my ears, I held my mask to my face the whole time.
June 11, 2020 at 2:27 pm #888785perfect. I’m doing balyage tonight so i’m assuming i’ll need the blow dry as well since she also finishes the cut dry
June 11, 2020 at 2:41 pm #888787@Nicole, I’m in Colorado Springs – about an hour south of Denver. Most everyone was doing good there for the longest time (with wearing masks). I just don’t understand what happened to all the common sense…I guess it went out the window.
@Kate – apparently CO did NOT learn or have forgotten. And people are selfish anymore – no respect for others. We are from Arkansas originally which is spiking with cases right now – because no one there wanted to follow any suggested guidelines (aka wear masks). I’m so tired of all the selfish jerks.I’m feeling a little melancholy today…My husband and I were supposed to be in the Cayman Islands this week. And I would like to start planning that trip again or any trip/get away but just can’t do it with all the unknowns right now.
They took my temp when I went in. I had to sign a waiver. The receptionist’s desk had the plastic barrier. The chairs were appropriately apart. My stylist disinfected both her station chair and the wash station chair before I sat in either. I had to keep my purse on my lap, I knew that going in so I brought a small bag. I was impressed with the care they took. They’re also working on systems to switch so we’re completely contact free, from booking appointments to paying.
They used my card on file and emailed me a receipt, so no use of the credit card machine or signing.
I’m liking this Inca Glow smoothing treatment. I did a blowout on Sunday using that John Frieda hot brush and it’s been hanging in there all week. Today is really swampy, and my hair is in a ponytail and it’s curling a bit but not frizzing. A woman on a Zoom call today showed these front pieces of her hair that are frizzing out of her ponytail like crazy and she always keratins the front of her hair but is overdue for it.
Anyway. Glad to have my hair on point.
Oh, well, I have a lot of wave in my hair, but with this round brush that’s also a blow dryer, I can dry it smooth and bouncy, with nice ends. I like having it that way for work.
If your hair is really dry, a good place to start is deep conditioning with a thick mask once a week, laying off of irons, and using heat protector when you do put any heat on your hair. Also regular trims.
June 12, 2020 at 7:50 am #888910I feel and look human again! They did dry my hair, and everything was very spaced out and nicely managed. My stylist normally takes me and my friend at the same time so one is getting cut while the others color is setting, but she wanted to wait til next time to do that. It really won’t be an issue because the salon is long enough that there is plenty of space to do distance. Plus, she only has 3 MAYBE four stylists working at any one time. They made some moveable glass dividers that were placed between the dryers or could be placed between stylists if necessary. She’s also moving her days to Mondays to take advantage of fewer people in the shop (she owns so she can really do what she wants). All-in-All, it was great. Next up: dentist on monday.
HelenJune 12, 2020 at 8:34 am #888917Here in rural GA there’s way more people not wearing a mask than wearing one. Its a source of pride among these people to not be “mask wearing sheep” Even the employees pull them down from their noses or take it off to talk. There’s a lot of disdain for masks and any other preventive measures. The largest county is opening up school on the normal day & hasn’t announced taking any extra precautions (hybrid school, masks, canceling fall break, taking a long break during cold/flu season) Nothing. Everyone here is unbothered by the virus. The virus doesn’t seem to be tearing through North GA. Everyone I’ve spoken to doesn’t know anyone who’s caught it. They’re all eager to know what my experience with it is. When I share, the fact that my husband and kids recovered quickly confirms their bias, and they block out the fact that I was sick for 7 weeks & really thought I was going to die
