Wendy.. gah, that’s really really crappy. It’s not like you’re asking the universe for a lot.
July 10, 2020 at 5:12 pm #894695It’s just at massage Envy (i have a monthly package), so I’m not sure what it’s like at the actual spas? i do know that a lot of places now won’t let you linger at all, you’re just in and out. Kinda defeats the “spa” experience, but at least treatments are still options.
July 11, 2020 at 2:46 pm #895480I’ve heard good things about Spa Soak.
Called up Massage Envy: mask required during massage (I assumed).
Facial: the esthetician will have mask and face shield since I can’t wear anything during treatement.Originally there was 30 minutes between my appointment and I would have needed to leave potentially, but they were able to bump them up so they’re back to back. I don’t need to leave the room.
HelenJuly 12, 2020 at 7:18 am #896029Wendy & Ktfran, how disappointing! Looking forward to a small respite only to have it taken away last minute is such a let down.
I’m actually enjoying my own respite. 24hrs completely alone!! My husband is work traveling for the first time since March and the kids spent the night at grandma’s. This will be their last visit over there for the foreseeable future. Cases are skyrocketing so we’re getting stricter with our self isolation. We won’t be leaving the house at all for 2 weeks once my husband returns since he’s at a trade show, indoors, with 100s of sheriffs from all over the southeast. Oh and its bike week there. JFC. Thankfully he’s sensible & I can trust him to take all available precautions. I’m trying not to think about it so it doesn’t ruin my glorious 24hrs of solitude. I’ve always valued my alone time, which has been in short supply, so this was a real treat. And Tomorrow’s my birthday! 39 years old. 20 years ago being alone for my birthday would’ve been a reason to cry. Today I can’t think of a better gift
Happy birthday Helen.
I totally get the time alone. Pre-covid, the husband and I averaged to be at home at the same time one week a month due to work travel schedules. It’s an adjustment for sure.
We were always ok with the work travel because it helped support our personal travel lifestyle.
I’ve adjusted by taking a lot of evening baths. Speaking of, I’m due for another order of bath salts.
LisforLeslieJuly 13, 2020 at 6:19 am #896952Happy Birthday Helen!
Wendy – I’m sorry and that sucks.
Here in Florida (why am I still here?!) a handful of people in the community were recently diagnosed and the one thing they have in common: They went out to eat at restaurants. That has convinced my mom to slow her roll a bit – I could see her beginning to think it would be ok to dine outside … this has convinced her otherwise.
Palm Beach county requires masks now. I was at the grocery store yesterday and everyone was complying whereas two weeks ago – 90% were. Of course, this is the same county where “white power shithead’ was filmed… sigh.
HelenJuly 13, 2020 at 8:02 am #896998Thanks for the birthday wishes!
Lisforleslie according to my social media 60% of GA’s population is currently in FL. Most of the people vacationing in a hotspot seem to plan on sending their kids to f2f school in 3 weeks. I don’t understand this level of selfishness.
I have a friend in the West Palm Beach County area and she sent me a YouTube video of a recent town hall there and OMG. The things the anti-maskers down there had to say about their rights being violated and how it’s sinful to mess with breathing as God intended it to be. I was speechless.
ETA: Happy birthday, @Helen! Enjoy the solitude!
LisforLeslieJuly 13, 2020 at 9:59 am #897075@Copa – they glom on to any rationale they possibly can use. It doesn’t have to be logical. It’s not like any of those folks have ever had a knee or hip replacement with a doctor who successfully breathed while wearing a mask for the duration of the operation. /s
Ultimately these people have decided their minimal inconvenience is more significant than consideration for others.
And for the record, it’s Florida, it’s summer. I get that people are hot but my nether region is a heck of a lot hotter when I’m walking through the grocery store parking lot than my face but I’m still going to wear pants.
