I voted but whoever owns that sushi dog just have a LOT of friends because there’s no way that costume is the best.

Also your dog is the CUTEST.

Thanks Ange! Yeah it’s totally about who has the most social media. Snoop Dogg looks good, I’ll give him that, but he also has the most friends.

I was not able to vote, but your dog is super-cute.

Thank you! What do you mean, you couldn’t smash the thumb button under his pic?

I feel like there are issues with this polling platform and votes aren’t being counted. Stop the steal!

I’m ok with Snoop Dog winning, but that piece of sushi should not be in 2nd place, she is weak.

Your pup is def awesome! So much better than all the basic pup costumes. The sushi one doesn’t even make the top 5.

Thank you! Right? And he’s a good boy. I never had a Jack before who would wear a costume with a hat and walk around and do a photo shoot outside, which we did dressed as a nun and a priest.

He also loves everyone, including babies and toddlers. And he lies down when he sees a puppy coming, to show he’s friendly.

This thread had its 3000th post this week! I was re-reading some of the earlier posts, and Fyodor linked to this tweet, saying “I hope it doesn’t come to this.” If only it had been just a few weeks…

Remember it was just going to “magically disappear”

    700,000+ Americans dead. But it’s a hoax.

And you know what’s been on my mind lately – bankruptcy and healthcare.

All of these idiots who refused to get vaccinated and spent days or weeks in the hospital, many many many of them are uninsured. And even with insurance, they are not going to be able to pay their bills. As I’ve mentioned, I read the HCAs, so many of them point to the go fund me they set up because so and so can’t work or for funeral costs. No insurance, no life insurance, no savings.

So it’s not like the hospitals are going to shrug their shoulders and say “Welp! Guess our bottom line goes into the red this year” No. It means that the bandaid that used to cost $37 now costs $137. It means that my health insurance goes up because the Insurance companies are not taking the hit either.

And the families left behind, are left with the debt and the issues that come with it for years. Or the relatives that have to take in the four and five kids left behind because their parents couldn’t figure out that Aunty Mim’s racist facebook rantings were not equivalent to two major scientific institutions plus the country health authorities not just from the US but from the world. Health Canada, European Medicines Agency, Japan’s HA, you think Japan doesn’t do a good job of evaluating a drug application? They are all over that stuff. But no Uncle Bob’s meme posts need to be given equal consideration.

OK, sorry folks, I’m just fucking peeved as hell. But the dog is really cute.

@wendy, yeah we went to a state park in NJ a few months ago that still had signs up from March 2020 that said “30 days to slow the spread” or somesuch. Very depressing!

It does sound from that article you linked to last week like there has been an uptick in divorces the last few months but it’s not clear how much that’s directly pandemic related vs. people putting off divorces until it was (sort of) over. We know at least one couple who were in the process of separating in early 2020 who put it off until this summer.

Speaking of this being over soon, which is what we all wanted… I go into the office occasionally. The calendar on my desk is still up for March 2020. At this point, I kind of don’t want to take it down. It’s kind of like a “never forget” thing.

The previous year, 2019, I was in the company’s leadership training initiative. One of the gentlemen in my cohort likes to take pics in his spare time. He’s pretty good actually. So he put together a calendar and sent me one. That’s the other reason I have a hard time taking it down. It reminds me of the “before” and of travel and of meeting interesting people.

I’ve heard a few people say that returning to work feels like some kind of time capsule. I saw some photos online, too, of things like office plants that grew wild and I think one was a rotted apple. I used to forget to wash my coffee mug before leaving for the day often enough that I’ve wondered if I have a very moldy coffee mug waiting for me. We went remote overnight, pretty much. I’d been taking my work stuff home every night just in case it happened, and got a text about it one night and felt like, great! I have everything I need. I have no clue what state I left my office in and haven’t stepped foot inside in 19 months. I could tell on an all staff Zoom meeting months back that a coworker, our office manager who goes in once a week or so to take care of some tasks that need to be done in the office, seems to be using my office as her own while we’re remote and it kinda bugged me a bit… an overreaction to care at all, probably, but she has the entire place to herself and we have at least two totally empty offices that don’t belong to anyone.
