Over here we’re seeing some veeeeeery tentative talk of when we might be able to open up as we’re going reasonably well at the moment. I’m not holding my breath but it could be on the near horizon. They’re sending the kids back to school after Easter holidays anyway so…
HelenApril 23, 2020 at 12:15 pm #881256My fucking fever is back! Omg I was doing good for about a week, though never got rid of the chest pain. Worse now & getting winded again. Just when I think I have this shit beat it comes back. Good thing I can go bowling and get a tattoo tomorrow before I die
April 23, 2020 at 2:55 pm #881291watching Pritzker’s announcement. I think it’s a good mix of here’s how our data is coming together, here’s what we know and how it affects our decision making, here’s what we need to do and here’s what can open and where our priorities are
I am too busy at work today to watch Pritzker’s announcement, though I watch most days. In the early weeks, when I was watching Trump’s press conferences, too, I’d need to watch Pritzker to calm down. I think he’s doing a good job under the circumstances. He’s always straightforward and no-nonsense, makes decisions based on data and science, and acknowledges that yes, this is hard and scary. Also appreciate that he doesn’t hesitate to clap back at Trump.
I heard earlier that our SAH order was extended (expected) but that it was modified so need to read up on that soon.
ETA: Brief rant that my internet connection at my boyfriend’s is SO BAD today. I dropped off a Zoom meeting (that I was hosting, no less) like five times in an hour. I know, I know — small grip all things considered — but so frustrating. Seriously debating WFH at my own place tomorrow since I have several Zoom calls instead of just one.
April 23, 2020 at 3:10 pm #881296@copa:
-we’re on SAH until May 30.
-BUT..surgeries and elective stuff can reopen as long as they meet guidelines for testing/distancing
-garden centers and greenhouses can open
-nonessential businesses can now do online orders and curbside/deliveries
-masks must be worn if 6 ft cannot be kept (so. grocery stores for example)
-phasing in of state parks
-some slight modifications for manufacturers (full details not available, but shift staggering etc)Yep, MG summarized perfectly. Also, dog grooming can open. Weird. But I guess since they’re not human??
In Trump news… do you think “I’m sorry judge, I gave my husband bleach because the president said injecting it in the lungs would kill the virus” is a plausible defense? No?
EDT: I appreciate Pritzker during this pandemic despite not liking him / thinking he’s another IL crook. He’s doing right by us. I LOVE Lightfoot and I love all the cutouts of her in windows.
April 23, 2020 at 10:32 pm #881344Yea I feel the same way @ktfran. We’ll see how the rebuild goes after more restrictions are lifted. I hope Lightfoot gives a reprieve on the lakefront MidMay if we do indeed start a downturn in the curve. (So many people! Need a little more space), but we shall see.
LisforLeslieApril 24, 2020 at 6:27 am #881369I would love to see Stacey Abrams or Elizabeth Warren – they are both idealistic pragmatics (Warren more than Abrams).
My mom and I play a virtual game of Bingo every night during the briefings and yell out key phrases or words. It started with “tremendous”. Any time he’d say that word we’d just shout it out. Now we’ve added “ventilator” “China” and a few more while we wait for Fauci or Birx to actually give us real information.
