Omg. You wrote that you felt unsafe around her before you even exchanged numbers. So if you were willing to do that despite feeling afraid, unblock her and text her to try to get the dog back. FFS. It’s not your job to determine whether or not her dog is safe with her. I also suggest you stop “looking into options to get this girl help” because… well, you’ve proven to not be good at that. There is a simple solution in front of you, one that can be handled safely (by meeting in public, in broad daylight, with a friend) and relatively quickly, and you refuse to take it.

I do not recommend leaving a puppy tied up outside of a store!? That’s cruel to the dog.

Right, you can’t do that. The sequence needs to be, find out if she wants the dog back —> either give the dog back directly to her OR take it to HER vet to leave it so she can pick it up. If she doesn’t want it back, keep it or surrender it to a shelter that has capacity.

Your reactions and choices in this whole situation haven’t been rational. You keep saying, you weren’t there, you don’t know, but yes we do know what’s rational and what’s not based on what you described.

And I mean, just critical thinking. Do you know the dog’s name, age, and breed? Then you can call around to each vet in the area and say you have this dog and does that match to their patient records? If so, they have the dog’s owner’s contact info. Is the dog neutered? If so, he definitely has a vet.

LW doesn’t have the money to take care of the dog either. She drained her bank account.
LW, you’re saying you’re trying to figure out what to do with the dog. Everyone has told you what to do (call her and give it back, or get it to a shelter), and you are unwilling to do either of those things.
Not sure what you want us to say.

Puppies are super expensive to care for, speaking as a person who has a dog that just turned 2.

Okay… Were you sexually attracted to this girl? Or what? Because that’s the only explanation I can find for why you’d fucking drain your bank account for some random — apparently psychotic — stranger.

PS — If you really are such a gutless coward and thus utterly unable to contact her again… Just bring the pup to a NO KILL shelter and simply say you found it on the street. It’s not rocket science. Clearly you are REALLY dragging this whole thing out as you fucking LOVE drama.

PS — We’ve all dealt with crazy homeless people. Hell, I once had to threaten one with my shoe. Meaning I slipped it off and literally weilded it as a weapon and wacked the fuck out of a parking meter to show I meant business. This can be surprisingly effective when one is 6’4 and wears a chunky loafer.

Damn I thought this got deleted. I was not sexually attracted to the girl and that is amusing to even consider. My therapist never told me I should return the dog. Only that I overstepped by trying to help the girl. I always give to the people in my neighborhood and I had a little extra so I thought I could step it up a notch. Especially cause she had a dog. Do you guys really never just go out of your way to help people? Have none of you ever made a mistake? Despite my reservations and fear about speaking to her I unblocked the girl last night and texted her. I have received no response as of writing this. If she responds then I’ll give the dog back, if not I’m keeping it. I have since been paid so don’t worry about me not being able to care for him my account is no longer empty.
This is the second time I’ve written to this forum and been accused of making stuff up. I’m not really sure why my stories are so unbelievable? Maybe because I “thrive on drama” and you guys are all rational beings? I don’t know. Either way I got my answer and I did what you all said so I think we can call this question resolved.

Yeah, I do help people, but I don’t take homeless women’s dogs and give them $500/all I have at the moment-and then act like I’m a victim.

And how did you actually help this woman? Stealing her dog and tossing her money so she doesn’t get evaluated/threatened by police (although you claim to be terrified of her yourself!) and then blocking her isn’t helping her.

Nothing you did benefitted this woman in any marked way. You have no idea what you walked into still.

“ Do you guys really never just go out of your way to help people?”

I do sometimes get asked for something specific by people on the street and if I can help then I do. A sandwich. A Dunkin card. A T pass. Even a prepaid credit card to help buy a coat. I don’t give anyone more than a few bucks cash. Most importantly, I don’t ever TAKE anything from them.

I got her a hotel room, I fed her, and I gave her money (prior to the 500) I had fully planned on taking her to a homeless organization as soon as one opened as I’ve said MANY TIMES. I am no longer going to address the situation with the police because most of you don’t understand it. I understand that what I did at 3am in a high stress situation wasn’t the best course of action. I don’t think I am a victim.

You guys have to understand not everyone does things the exact way YOU would. I give cash to homeless people sometimes large amounts if I can afford it. This is just the first time in years that I have had someone snap.
