SARAH B, STICK WITH THE THERAPY! I stuck with it when I was in college, and it literally changed my life for the better. Also- if you aren’t clicking with the counselor you are assigned to, just ask them to reassign you to a different counselor! Sometimes it just takes finding the right one (the right one for me alternated between sympathy and kicking my ass)
@anonymousse I quilt! I haven’t made one in a long time since I have an extra job, but I love making quilts.
And second the “don’t settle if you dont’ like your therapist”. I didn’t like my first one and looked around until I found a better one. I’ve been seeing her for 2+ years now and I love her
RedRoverRedRoverFebruary 18, 2016 at 7:16 pm #442138You’ll get over the stage fright if you just keep pushing yourself to do it. I have to do a lot of presentations at work and at first I hated it, but now I’ve been doing it for like 10 years and I’m so used to it that it doesn’t even bother me anymore. But in highschool and university I found it terrifying.
FamousLastWordsFebruary 18, 2016 at 11:27 pm #442148I’m actually really heartened by the positive turn this thread has made.
I’ll be honest, I was reading this originally for the drama. But I do really need to start thinking of everyone who posts, even those who originally articulate their issues well or take constructive criticism ideally, as still people who could benefit from a supportive community.
And even a year later, Sarah B can eventually find that community in us.
That makes me really freaking happy, guys.
Guess I’ll have to settle for watching Teen Mom.
Sunshine BriteFebruary 19, 2016 at 9:20 am #442166I love the way you’re building the skills with the acting. I’m a shaky leaf no matter how much I practice when I have to talk in front of people.
I do my best to not try and tackle problems alone anymore. Tried that, it usually makes me worse. I’m seeing my 2nd therapist now and didn’t realize how poorly I’d worked with the first one until I started with this one.
