I’m so sorry MJ. Sending you love. I just heard from my friend (mid 30s) that his mom who has cancer is being transferred from the hospital to palliative.
Congrats on the wedding @golfergal!!
In terms of books, I read Our Missing Hearts by Celeste Ng. I haven’t read her earlier books like Little Fires Everywhere. I didn’t love it so I wouldn’t recommend it necessarily, so not helpful haha.
I grew up thinking I would like a family but never felt “motherly”. I figured the feeling would just come. My husband and I said we would wait a year after the wedding before starting to try. My husband does want kids and we did talk about it before getting married. A few months ago I did kind of freak out of the reality of it all but worked through it. I think it was worry about the unknown. I also went off BC and weaned off some medication so that’s kind of been up and down.
Partly at play is I am not happy at work and while it took me more time than I should have I realize I don’t see my future where I am. However I also don’t exactly know where to go. I have some idea but I don’t know if that’s actually a good fit. We decided that I would take the next couple months or the summer to figure out what I want in a job before starting to try. So there is some pressure about fertility being in my mid 30s but we will take it as it comes.

I spent a week by myself in London after university. Victoria and Albert Museum was my favourite museum! Also really liked the Tate Modern. I think I watched a play at the the Globe if you’re into that. I thought St Paul’s Cathedral with its dome was just gorgeous. I just liked walking everywhere.
I think I saw a photo of Marsh Library on a Microsoft background and it looked so gorgeous haha. Have fun on your trip, @copa!! Maybe you can also look at Waterford crystal, heh? I don’t know much about Ireland either.
We are actually just finishing up our honeymoon/first international trip! We spent five days in Prague and now are in Dubrovnik. It’s been amazing! It’s been my first time away for a longer period of time since COVID and it has been hard disconnecting with work though I’ve been really trying not to check emails too much. Actually logged on here to see what other people’s experiences are with emails on vacation.
I saw that Airstrait tool too. Looks very effective but not really useful for me I think since I already have straight hair.
I also like a good blazer. But then you also have gen Z teasing millennials about wearing business casual to the club. Which true lol. Also I know not quite what you mean Kate.
I have found some of my ten year old clothes are getting holes in the elbows. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve gotten larger or if those clothes aren’t meant to last.
I think I like Uniqlo for basics though it’s been a while.
That is very interesting @copa! Sometimes I feel those analyses don’t work with East Asian skin tones although I’m sure somebody has written about that.
Any thoughts on Kibbe body types? I get that on TikTok too lol.
My husband has offered to gift me a Dyson air wrap with points. He is trying to phase out of that points system. I’m still tempted and yet there are mixed reviews. Even though it’s with points I’d feel bad if I didn’t like it.
Was there somebody here who had someone reach out to them on LinkedIn? Ick.
Honestly because we are making the same amount, if his salary increased significantly, I’d at first feel a tad jealous only out of my own insecurity of where I am at in my career. But, no, I am glad we all here have supportive partners.
Last night I broke a glass and he got out the vacuum. We do laundry together. I dust more but mostly because visible dust bugs me haha.
I feel lucky as he works from home now. so he will tend to have dinner ready when I get home. It’s mostly reheating leftovers or pasta but it’s nice. I did make a ten minute dinner I was v proud of lol: pan fried sole fillet with capers (but sub any white fish) and broccoli in air fryer.
I think how we organize finances might change if we have children as it all would r a joint expense.
Also the teddy bear thing is really ick. But also if a man were in suit in online dating he’d probably get more matches.
This is helpful just to gauge though I know everybody is different! We keep our finances separate right now. We deposit into a joint account our mortgage and utilities. I think with retirement/investments I want to work together or have a plan together for our own accounts.
I mostly didn’t want my profession to be super obvious because if you google my first name, profession and city you will find me.
Hope you feel better @copa, COVID or not.
Happy belated birthday TheLadyE! Also congrats on the promotion. I am glad that worked out. I hope you continue to recover.
I also appreciate knowing about perimenopause. I’m not sure if my lack of knowledge was because I never looked out for info on it but thank you Gen X for talking about it more. I don’t think I’ve ever asked my mom about how her menopause went. I am glad my mom was open about her miscarriages (two, afaik).
I am happy with how my husband and I have been splitting household expenses. It helps that we make the same income. What we are going through now is planning for the future/retirement together. He has a pension though work. I don’t. We both used to do our own thing at varying degrees. But now it is talking about joint savings and investments.
If you’re comfortable sharing, how do you do it in your household?
Wow, @copa! There is a difference, but it’s subtle. Also FWIW I wouldn’t notice baggy eyes in your before picture until you mentioned it.
My lashes are growing out pretty normally. If anything I miss the minimal smudging from mascara! Even with waterproof mascara I never found one that gave volume and didn’t smudge.
A recent study came out about gel manicures that the UV light changes DNA and causes cancer. I think you’re only curing your nails for maybe 10 min total but it doesn’t hurt to apply sunscreen on your hands and maybe wear UV screening tipless gloves
