I do find it ironic that Robert compared office workers to robots when his interactions w/ the human race seems extremely robotic.
Others covered chemistry/attraction well. You can’t base either off of a photo and a few phone calls alone. With on-line dating, you message (or I guess talk to) someone to see if there is a good rapport. If there is, you meet that person to see if there is chemistry and then you decide if you want to see that person again. There could be a million reasons that it might not work out, NONE OF WHICH ANYONE OWES YOU AN EXPLANATION FOR.
I don’t have a solution for you. And frankly, I completely understand why you wouldn’t want to get the cops involved. This is exactly why less money should be spent on cops and more money on mental health and/or drug resources. There really wasn’t a good option.
If the cops had taken her, like everyone suggested the LW should have let happen, what would have happened to the dog? Do they drop it off a kennel? It wouldn’t have been allowed in the police station or hospital. I’m also guessing the police would have just put woman in a cell overnight?
Really, no good solutions. At this point, I think I’d try to connect with her about the dog, but honestly, the dog is probably better off with you.
I’m not sure age is a good indicator for vaccine hesitancy and for the reasons you stated @fyodor. It was really hard to get vaccines to economically disadvantaged people. A lot of education had to go into it, especially for POC who already distrust the medical system. Taking the time to actually get a shot or two was really difficult for people without access to transportation or who had a hard time taking off work. I imagine a lot of the younger people not getting the vaccine fall into the economically disadvantaged category. I would truly be surprised if people who are for the vaccine would hesitate in getting their children vaccinated. I’d love to see data on that.
After the initial push to get the vaccine to everyone, and there was a lot on getting it to the economically disadvantaged, I haven’t seen that same push for their children. It was also easier to get a lot of these people the J&J. One shot and their done. All of the negative news surrounding that vaccine hurt the efforts.
Agreed, that’s why I mentioned the TX bit and the age bit. I haven’t heard of anyone else in my orbit who had a breakthrough case and who is generally cautious.
The friend in TX is similar to me with Covid and being careful. She can’t figure out where she got it. She rarely leaves the house. We had a trip to Santa Fe scheduled a month ago, but canceled it (she did) because of the Delta rise. But, it’s TX, so.
Re: kids spreading germs. So, so true.
My niece picked up hand, foot, mouth at daycare two Friday’s ago. She passed to my nephew. And my bil has now too. He had a high fever and couldn’t open his eyes. My sister doesn’t have the symptoms yet. The nephew’s 5 year birthday party was canceled this weekend and I’m glad they’re waiting a couple weeks to reschedule. I don’t want to get near that shit.
I know it’s not covid, but more proof how fast things spread.
I put the husband in charge of ordering balloons for the nephew since his birthday is actually today. He went a little overboard, so I hope that at least cheers him up.
Omg. I hate Gatorade and all drinks similar to it. I don’t even like lemonade. Thank goodness I’m 9 years out from that.
I missed all my appointments last year. Went to both my GYN and General Practitioner this summer and they both reminded to get my mammogram so doing that in a few weeks. I’ve had that, imaging and even a biopsy done in 2014 because of a breast cancer scare, so I’m ok with that check up.
