I don’t know that he’s holding it over her, per se. My take is that he wants the proposal to be special. SO MANY PEOPLE want to do something special or make it this grand thing. I personally think it’s silly, but to each their own. I’ve had two friends get engaged in Paris. Yawn. Another was videotaped. Again, yawn. Another was on a trip, but at least not to Paris.
ETA: And I do agree that if it’s causing this much anxiety, he should just do it already.
I’m glad others mentioned seeing a therapist. I think it would help.
Wait. He has the ring. He knows you want to be engaged before you move in together. You have plans to move in together in June. He said to not worry about it.
So, you know your basic timeline. You know he has a ring. What @kate said. What’s making you anxious?
ETA from your update. Yes, I’d just relax a little bit. Breath. You can’t be in control of every minute detail. You have have a lot of big changes coming up. Breath. Think of ways you can feel better about the change. Or things you can do.
That’s such a great date MoneyPenny! Do visit Chicago. We’ll have a meetup! It’s been ages. The last I went to was Kmt’s improv show.
I think we spent four to five nights a week together. Never Sunday night because I wanted to prep for the week. And never Wednesday’s because I tutored.
I haven’t been to that place. Bummer you didn’t care for it.
Before the husband, I was at Ashland and Grace, so right at the Southport Corridor. My yoga studio, which I miss terribly, was at Irving and Southport and all the instructors were so, so nice and helpful. You should check it out if you find yourself staying with the BF often.
I miss that neighborhood, although more the surrounding area than Southport. I feel that it’s now too commercialized. It’s losing character.
I also miss being so close to Lincoln Square. And I miss Loba Pastry + Coffee. That was my stop on the way home from the grocery store every Sunday. My stop in the new neighborhood is La Colombe. Not quite the same, but does the trick.
Margies candies… yum!!!! Ages ago, a couple friends and I were going to see a movie and wanted to take ice cream from Margies. They wrapped it up for us in a way that it didn’t melt and we took it into the theater. It was wonderful. I forget the movie now. Hmmmm.
There are also so many good breweries. You’ll love that neighborhood this summer.
It is! It’s perfect.
Ooh, @copa, if it’s the one I’m thinking, the restaurant is really good. And BYOB!! When I lived in that neighborhood, I would stop at the market next door and pick up a couple of empanadas after my yoga class. They were cheaper than the others in the area and so, so good!
