I started with my therapist last summer. We met in person the first time because the numbers were lower. After that all our sessions were virtual. It’s been fine but I had my first session in person last month and one, I forgot how petite my therapist is! I think it’ll be better and she has these nice scents in the office. But dang her appointments book up quickly. A consequence of the pandemic.
FyodorJuly 13, 2021 at 9:27 am #1094568Mark, cases have roughly quadrupled in the last two weeks LA with the delta variant, which is more contagious, produces more severe results and is much better at breaking through immunity, and has been passed from and among vaccinated people. I don’t want to tell anyone what to do, but I would consider wearing a mask in public indoor spaces.
It’s an extraordinary upsetting situation. I was really hoping to be done with all of this and returning to normal life by now.
FyodorJuly 13, 2021 at 9:30 am #1094569Cases have roughly doubled nationwide in the last fourteen days-I have to think that things are going to be very hairy soon. I honestly don’t know if I have the emotional resources to go through another 6-9 months of this at minimum, especially after we were almost out of it.
FyodorJuly 13, 2021 at 9:56 am #1094572Oh, I have a new COVID related development!
I’m not sure if you recall, but the Bride of Fyodor got COVID last December and we didn’t know how we got it, since we were insanely careful. Our best guess had that we got it from the Spawn of Fyodor, who got it at the orthodontist and gave it to the Bride of Fyodor, who gave it to her handsome husband. The Spawn was tested after the Bride was diagnosed and several times more during the period after that until one week after I was no longer contagious and the Spawn never tested positive. So we assumed that the Spawn might have gotten it at the Orthodontist, but the Spawn also did not test positive for antibodies in December so we never knew if she had it.
HOWEVER, I read a month ago that sometimes people do not seroconvert until 6-8 weeks after testing positive and also that the tests had improved. So in June we got her tested again with a newer test (we asked her first and made sure that she was OK with it and she said she wanted to know) and she does indeed have a healthy antibody level.
THEN, she by chance had an appointment with that Orthodontist a week later. When I told them about it they kind of blew me off, and then that day we a call from them saying that we owed them six hundred dollars from 2018, something we’d heard nothing about since then. We ALSO heard from the neighboring dentist office that they believed that the orthodontist office had been closed due to COVID shortly after my daughter was there.
BittergaymarkJuly 13, 2021 at 10:11 am #1094574Yeah, Fyodor. I just read a frightening article about the rising LA variant Covid19 rates late last night… masks are suddenly going everywhere with me once again. Ugh… I, too, was hoping to be done with them.
PS: And I agree… your orthodontist is acting fairly shady…
July 14, 2021 at 11:27 am #1094813I’m mostly going no mask now except at the grocery stores (not sure why I still feel I need to wear one there but I do). We go out to eat some but mostly at odd times so the restaurants aren’t too busy. I’m slowly coming back to the school where I work and not wearing a mask as vaccines are a requirement to be here. And it’s summer so fairly quiet.
However, there are crazies still out there with getting the vaccine. On the news, I saw a person carrying a sign that said “I identify as immune”. Ok then.
Then, my daughter works at Home Depot. She had a guy come in asking where the no trespassing signs are. He needs a few because he heard Biden was going to come (or send troops) to everyone who won’t get vaccinated. Hahahahaha – where do people get their news?!?!
My friend who went hard anti-vaxx claimed she was, you know, a free thinker who did a lot of research. But it was clear she never read any of the articles, just the headlines, and wasn’t good at sniffing out fake news. She sent me articles sometimes like, “Pam Anderson died!” Or, “look, this proves you can’t get Covid twice,” but if you read the article it was clearly fake or else didn’t say what she thought it said.
LisforLeslieJuly 14, 2021 at 12:06 pm #1094819Biden has talked about a door-to-door campaign to bring information and vaccines to people. Of course, the right has spun it (the north carolina freshman congress person in the wheelchair – looking at you) as “They are going to come to your house, with guns, and force you to be vaccinated.” So of course the rapist with a good chin and good hair is more believable than the president (because remember he’s not really the president).
Where I live, a little over 2/3 of people are still not vaccinated, and most everyone is not wearing masks anymore, including workers at grocery stores and restaurants. The Covid cases in my county have tripled in the past two weeks as the Delta variant has swept over the area. I’m one of the very few exceptions that still wears a mask in public indoor places on the off chance that I get a break through infection and then spread it to the unvaccinated people around me who could then be killed by it. I know that has very low chances of happening, but it pisses me off that so many people are misinformed and I think losing their lives over this is far too harsh of a punishment for willful idiocy. Masks are such a small and easy way to protect others from getting sick compared to the possible harm not wearing one can cause. I just don’t get why so many people would rather spread a disease that can kill others than wear another piece of cloth. Our leaders at both the county and state level are strongly pushing against vaccination education and outreach efforts in the name of “personal freedom”. With the vaccine now widely available and easy to get for free at places like Walmart, the deaths taking place here are completely preventable, and I find it deeply saddening and disturbing that so many people are being hospitalized and killed right now. Both my brothers are refusing to get vaccinated, and after my sister got a fever as a side effect from the J&J vaccine she is refusing to vaccinate my teenage niece. My favorite aunt, who is in her mid 70s, is also refusing to be vaccinated.
AngeJuly 14, 2021 at 7:15 pm #1094871We’re back in lockdown where I am in Aus as the delta variant got in through an American flight crew, looks like until the end of the month at least. Our idiot PM didn’t get vaccines when he had the chance so now we’re limping along with low supplies and transmission racing along. My first appointment is end of the month, it’s been booked since May. Crazy.
