ARE they smart though? You’re talking about a guy who went to federal prison for 7 years for making a “mistake.” Let me ask you, when you’re doing your taxes or filling out forms or doing things at work, do you ever find yourself on the verge of doing something illegal? Like, don’t you kind of have a pretty good gut sense of what might get you in trouble? And then his wife has strangers in the house and doesn’t wear masks. And would rather eat inside than deal with some flies. Which, the only time recently I’ve encountered a single bug was at a rest stop where we ate McDonalds at a picnic table and some bees showed up. Restaurant patios don’t have a bug problem. Maybe these are book smart people who lack common sense.
We got to the Cape last night. My parents moved out of their condo yesterday and into their new house nearby, so we’re staying here for 3 weeks until the buyer moves in. Anyway, my aunt and uncle from Missouri who are here this week and not quarantining, texted me like they wanted to see us, but I think they really just wanted to use the hose to clean off their dog. I politely told them to stick it. I’d be a lot more rude, but I am trying to not be a total cunt for my mom’s sake.
They should have just asked to use the hose and said they wouldn’t have any contact with us and I would have said ok.
I’m sorry, LadyE, but don’t go to that. Eating indoors isn’t safe, especially with a party of people who don’t live in the same household and will be conversing while eating. Even outside under those circumstances wouldn’t be safe for you. When these people talk, they’re going to project droplets.
I really don’t want to socialize. Not at all. I’m fine with this one couple who are about to have a baby, because they’re really careful. They’re my husband’s friends. I don’t even want to see my own friends.
But I’m keeping my conversational skills sharp right now by doing a bunch of in-depth interviews with small business owners on Zoom. My startup sold a project to one of the telecom/internet companies and we’re starting with this background research. Meanwhile I work 32-40 hrs a week under contract at an investment firm. It’s crazy.
I know, I wish I had antibodies and knew I couldn’t spread it. I haven’t bothered being tested though, I just act like I might have it. We have socialized with only one couple that we trust, and outdoors only, for dinner. On Instagram this past weekend I saw people partying without masks. A coworker went to a small indoor wedding, no one wore masks. This is all in the northeast too.
It’s late to be shocked, after 2 affairs and now a third. This is how he is. This is what he does. You really do have to accept that. Maybe you’re honestly okay with the 70/30, and that’s fine, I guess, but you have to stop expecting change and really be ok with the 70%.
My friends and co-workers are, like, hiring college kids to do outdoor activities with their kid and maybe a friend’s kid, and the parents sign contracts that they won’t go out to eat or whatever else. I do think kids need to go back to school in the fall. We can’t have a generation dropping out and having horrible mental health. I feel really bad for kids. Also their parents. Also old people. My aunt hasn’t had a visitor in 4 months, and there’s no end in sight. She’s also not mobile enough to like go outside and hang out. All I can do is go over and drop off clothes for her. Fortunately there haven’t been any cases at all in her facility, but the way to stay that way is to not have anyone in there.
