We have to lay off a few in our department every year so we’ve already thinned out the people who didn’t contribute much. Now we’re down to part time workers or people who indicated they were close to retiring. It sucks.

Wait, what?!? Several times now I’ve had to learn a new on-line meeting system because our clients use different apps (Zoom, Teams, GoTo). We were presenting to a client on Tuesday and 4 hours before the presentation, they sent us the GoTo invite, when they had originally said Teams. It took like 15 minutes to figure it out. Definitely doable. We managed. GoTo sucks BTW.

    Yeah. She needs to go.

Our FY ends in Sept. Per the usual, we had layoffs. Luckily, marketing only had to lay off 5% of it’s staff. Other parts of the business had to lay off 10%. We’re also going through mega organizational changes because we have a new CEO. Fun times.

One more Thanksgiving plug. If you are financially able, please make a donation to your local food bank. So many more people are out of work this year. This is a great way to contribute so others can enjoy the holiday’s. I just donated to mine.

My normal hiking boots are Timberlands and I love them. I owned one pair in my early 20s, which I ended up losing in my last move. I bought a new pair last January. I’ll check out Ugg. I’m not sold on Sorel.

I’m going by reviews from people skiing / live places where winter sports are big. I want warm, but not bulky. I walk ridiculously fast so I also need something where I won’t be drenched with sweat in five blocks. The Patagonia Nano Puff with a hood is on sale right now. $100 off. I ordered that yesterday. We’ll see what else I come up with in the next couple of weeks. Now I’m on the hunt for boots that are good for long walks / have mobility.

For those of you who are staying home for Thanksgiving and don’t want to try cooking a turkey… last year the husband and I ordered from Whole Foods and it was surprisingly cheap. And delicious! We had his parents over. We ordered the meal kit for 4 plus a pie. It came out to about $25/person + we had leftovers.

I’m ordering some new winter gear so I can go on longer walks this winter. I have stuff, but it was always mostly used for commuting so it was fine the 15 to 30 minutes I walked outside. I need a few better things. I’ll need to get out of the condo. And we still don’t have a car, but I’m slowly convincing the husband we need one.

Yeah, I’ve tried to stop judging. Everyone is taking some sort of risk.

I did tell my mom a couple months ago that I won’t come home for Thanksgiving unless it’s our immediate family only (our total count is 12). She always hosts my dad’s side. I think she was on board, but then I found out my aunt and uncle are coming in from NC and a cousin from MI the weekend before. My dad and the rest of his family will get together that weekend, which defeats the entire purpose. So… I don’t think I’m going home for Thanksgiving.

I’m not mad at my family for getting together. That’s a risk my dad and mom are willing to take. The husband and I aren’t willing to take it and so, we’ll do what we think is best.

I think as long as people are honest with one another about how much they’ve opened up their “pod” so everyone can make informed decisions, that’s the best we can do right now.

    Good luck MG!!!!!!!!

I’m headed to MI today with my friends for our socially isolated “Girls Gone 40” cabin trip. I can’t wait to unplug and relax.

The husband is going to stay with his parents a couple of nights because while we’re gone, the condo is finally getting painted!!!! It’s only been 3+ years since we moved in. It’s going to look so much brighter. And a can finally buy art. Woohoo!

It’s mostly local craft beer. They might do a couple national craft beers too.

@Copa and @MG, Bottles and Cans Fa La La La La beer box advent calendar is now up for purchase on their site. I gifted the husband this for the last three years and he absolutely loves it. You get full cans of beers, some of them limited edition, most of them delicious and local. I think there’s usually one or two the husband doesn’t care for.

You pre-order and then pick up around Thanksgiving.

My good friend has been gifting her husband this since they started.

EDT: I’m mentioned because I know you like beer MG, and Copa, I think your boyfriend does too if I remember correctly.
