In “before times” I used to go to a small workout place down the street from my office that had classes limited to 10 people. I put my membership on hold since I was working from home. They were able to start holding classes outside in their parking lot limited to 5 people only, and they also have big garage doors that they’d keep open and you could still go inside to use the restroom. I haven’t gone to a class since February, but I get the email updates. Recently they got a warning by the county because too many people were hanging out inside with no masks on! Granted, masks outside were optional, and nobody was supposed to be working out inside. But people were just hanging out and someone called the county on them. They just got a warning and now nobody is allowed inside unless they need the restroom.
I have no idea when I’ll be going back to the office so my membership is still on hold til January. I couldn’t help but think, what were people thinking, hanging out chit chatting without masks?? Yikes.
I’ve been doing zoom ballet classes 3x a week and also have a year Beachbody membership, so I feel like I’ll probably end up canceling the in-person gym. I do miss the classes and the teachers, who are great!September 29, 2020 at 1:40 pm #962748Congrats on the moves, Copa and MaterialsGirl! And good luck with all of the unpacking! Hopefully you get all set up and organized soon! 🙂
I have started to pack my stuff at my apartment, although I’m not leaving til the end of the year. I have a bunch of bankers boxes so I can pack (books and other stuff) and stack them all in a corner and in the closet. I’m trying to make it as easy as possible so I just have to load everything and go. My roommate (who has been a friend since HS) told me to just keep my keys so I can come over anytime I want! She’s trying to see if she can swing having the place to herself and will wants me to help her pick out new furniture and decor, which I think will be fun!
August 25, 2020 at 1:09 pm #961513Omigosh, Ktfran, that would be such a treat to SIP in Calistoga! 🙂 But yes, totally savings-draining for sure. One can dream, right?
A couple of my friends have gone wine tasting in Sonoma recently, since wineries can serve people outdoors and many are already set up for that. I was like, wait, they’re open?! I’m there! But, now there are fires so it’s best to just stay away for the time being. Probably the most exciting place I’ve gone is to the nursery to check out plants! We’ve gone to two places, and they are busy! I get so excited, it’s probably ridiculous.August 25, 2020 at 12:47 pm #961509@Copa, yeah, I remember you saying your dad’s family is in my area! (Large Northern CA coastal city…) I also would not really want to drive all this way either! A coworker of mine just drove out to stay with her mom for awhile in Salt Lake City, and it’s a 9hr drive. Her mom and mom’s bf drove halfway to meet her and her mom drove back with her to give her company/share in the driving, which sounded so nice!
I would love to spend some time in a cabin somewhere, but my bf has to work here, and he’s also worried about taking any time off- there’s nobody to cover for him right now and he doesn’t want to make anything complicated by asking for vacation. So, here we are. We do have a small yard that I’ve been gardening in, so at least I have some outdoor space to enjoy!August 25, 2020 at 12:11 pm #961505Also, related to Copa’s comment- I live in a mild-winter area. It would probably be a perfect spot to temporarily relocate for a couple of months in winter! A lot of people here are moving out, though. Like, in record numbers apparently. So it’s a good time to renegotiate rent and/or buy a place (if you have some $$)… But that’s also lead to the big “vacation” places like the lake seeing an uptick of people and also people not following social distancing/mask wearing rules! So that’s becoming a problem. Meanwhile I have barely left my house except to go to the same 5 or 6 places! So frustrating.
August 25, 2020 at 12:02 pm #961504Awww, yaaay! Congrats Veritek!!! I’m keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well!!! 😀
August 18, 2020 at 1:10 pm #961117@Copa, From what your dad said, it sounds like he’s questioning your judgement. Which does not feel good! Like, of course our parents should feel like we can make sound life decisions! Right? On the other hand, it’s possible it came out like that but he may have meant some thing along the lines of, is this what you really want? As in, this is your decision, the bf isn’t dictating this? I could see a parent asking that. Or maybe I can see my parents asking that, haha. Only you know your dad, though. I think it’s more important that you feel it is the right decision for you and pretty much everyone else important to you is supportive.
August 10, 2020 at 5:19 pm #943877That’s really exciting news, Copa! 🙂
I’m leaning more and more into giving up my apartment at end of December. I have a hard time getting used to changes such as moving as it is, so I’d better get used to the idea so that by the time it comes around I’ll feel fine about it!
I also had some bad news today- the wife of one of my bosses passed away this morning very suddenly. My other boss told us on our staff zoom call this morning. Nobody knows why yet, it just happened out of the blue. I feel terribly for my boss! I had met her a handful of times (not in the last few years, though), and she was a really nice woman. We were all warned to not bother him until he gets in touch with us first. I guess that’s made me feel a little down this afternoon.July 31, 2020 at 1:14 pm #916318Copa, That sounds like a great idea. And a nice compromise! Hopefully this place will become available just at the right time, but if not, I’m sure you will find another equally excellent place.
I have finally decided that I’m going to move permanently into my bf’s house probably at the end of the year or early next year. I’ve been living here pretty much full time already- most of my immediate-need stuff is here, but I go to my apartment for random things and to pay rent. My rent is low, as far as SF rents go, but it’s a glorified $$$ storage unit at this point, and as far as bf feels, I live here already. It’s been me who has been dragging my feet! His house is a fixer upper so I’m already in the middle of tools and walls with no drywall on them, so most of my stuff will stay in boxes for awhile til it makes sense to actually unpack them. At the same time I love my place, but… I’m never there. so.July 23, 2020 at 2:28 pm #903601I also was re-reading the first few pages of this thread and, wow, I went on a lot of bad/weird dates in 2015-2016! Thankfully one of them worked out, ha. I’m glad to have this place with you all.
