But you know what, there IS a time you gotta go and show you’re growing, now you know about the facts of life. The facts of life. When the world never seems to be living up to your dreams… You take the good. You take the bad. You take them both, and there you have the facts of life.
Yeah, I think it’s something to do with the way our societies are set now: We took some stuff to the charity shop last week and the Cockney saw a funny mug, which sparked a discussion about how it’s actually cheaper to buy a new thing than to spend your limited time repairing the old one. I find this highly problematic actually… My blowdryer crapped out the other day and I’m having a hard time convincing myself to just throw it out.
What do you think about the consumerist nature of our current society Sarah B?
RedRoverRedRoverFebruary 18, 2016 at 8:49 am #441905@Kate, what did you mean when you said your ricer burns calories? You mean because it’s manual and you have to force everything through it?
I always just used a masher, I don’t really like them “creamed”. I guess I’m not picky about mashed potatoes, as long as I have butter or sour cream or something for them. 🙂 I do like to use new potatoes though, and leave the skins on. Yum!
February 18, 2016 at 8:58 am #441906Sarah B, for all your book smarts and higher lernin’ that you claim to have… you are not very good at following the thread here. (Yes, I intentionally misspelled there.) It is actually pretty simple- you read down the page, then you hit the next arrow button, maybe even checking to be sure that the pages are sequential as the new one opens (like I do). It is actually based upon how one reads a real book with pages- like the ones you should be reading for your college classes.
Potatoes- definitely some cream cheese + a touch of milk, and leave the skin on. My sweetie is the better cook between the two of us, so Im actually not 100% sure what his recipe is. He is all self-taught, via trial-and-error, some Food Network back in the day, and Alton Brown books. Also, the internets these days. 😉
I often use organic Yukon gold if I’m going to roast or make potato salad. I’m not picky about what I use for mashed but I ALWAYS spring for organic potatoes.

(Potatoes absorb SO much of the pesticides)
