Woo! I’m almost cool with my younger brother. He’s 24 but not quite an adult yet. My older brother and I get along quite well now. I’m going up in March to visit him (and his cute 2 year old) for his birthday!

Well now we’re talking about babies. I have nothing to add.

But man, the fighting between my older brother and I. He sent me to the ER once when he was 5 (I was 4, and he dragged me down the hall and dislocated my elbow). I sent him to the ER once when we were older (entirely an accident, I swear, I slammed his hand in the car door and he needed several stitches).

I still haven’t forgiven him for giving me chicken pox for my 3rd birthday, so I had to stay home when he got to go to the pumpkin patch with our preschool. At least he did get me a pumpkin.

I am on a flight and catching up on everything I missed yesterday and this morning (pages 30-75) has made a cool 2 hours pass by. Thanks all!

I have three siblings and we are all two years apart. We, for the most part, all got along as children. My sisters are my best friends!

I’m the second oldest of 7. My oldest brother is 30, I’m 28, the youngest is 18. So the closest spacing is 18 months. My mom (who had seven babies) feels that either 18 months apart or two+ years apart is good. There is a phase of toddlerhood that is a little too hands-on around infants, whereas slightly older twos and threes can be brought into the experience in a more manageable way. There were always times when those of us closest in age had rivalries or got in each others’ way, but the cool thing is how I have siblings I’m peers with (late twenties) and siblings I have a much more ‘older sibling’ relationship with. We are all close, though the exact things we turn to each other for (friendship, advice, etc) vary depending on our age relationships.

Every time I think I should get a prize for being really competent and handling things like an adult I look at my mom and realize I will never match her in that department. It’s humbling.

@convexed, seriously. Also, grandmas. Mine had 11 and 6 children (AT HOME), and I’m all “whooooaaa, two…maybe…eek…”.

I know! Sometimes my one seems like too much. My husband is the oldest of 6.

Othy – I sent my middle sis to the ER on her birthday. Or was it my birthday? I think hers. Anyway, I was chasing her around the house and she fell head first into the corner of one of my parents speakers. Stitches right down her forehead. I think she was turning 4, so I would have been 6.

It was my birthday that I sent my brother to the ER. We were on our way to dinner (I think it was either my 16th or 17th birthday, since I was actually the one driving). Sadly, we had to reschedule the whole thing.
